OK, want to make sure that I'm planning right here.

For dh, Dockers style pants and short sleeve button up shirts for all casual nights........dress pants, shirt and tie for semi formal........and a suit and tie for formal????

For me, skirts and nice shirts for casual, cocktail dress for semi formal.....and something I'd wear to a wedding for formal????

for the boys (8 and 10), pants and golf shirts for casual...........and then dress pants and button up shirt for semi-formal.........and dress pants......shirt and tie for formal?

Does that sound about right? I need to plan because I'll need to pick up a few different clothing type items before the cruise and if I know what I need maybe I can find some good end of summer sales.

Sounds good. I even did capris with nice top on the casual nights.

I think even a golf/polo shirt for casual nights would be fine.

I am probably in the minority here, but for DS(9) for dinner on casual nights, he will probably wear very nice shorts(docker type) and a polo or button down shirt. He usually doesn't sit very long at dinner before he is off to the club, and him in shorts(again, nice shorts, not jean shorts, not short, but to the knee) keeps us from having to run to the room before him going to the club.
We do have dress pants and shirt and a suit for the formal nights for him.

Bethipooh- you're not in the minority with me!
I read the OP and all I'd add is a little less "dressy" on the nonformal nights. In other words you don't need to wear a skirt- you could wear like someone else said... slacks or capris and blouse. And my son (8) wore docker shorts/polos to nonformal dinners. He wasn't out of place. on nonformal nights I even saw MEN in shorts for dinner-s ome even jean shorts. *sigh* (found it hard to justify the "dressiness" with DH after we witnessed what other men were wearing- but I still won that battle with him LOL)

A suit is not NECESSARY even for formal night- I only saw a few men in suits (many with the jacket taken off while eating) and only one in a tux, one guy in military formal wear... the rest were wearing same as my DH- shirt/tie. But if you have a suit already- by all means wear it. DH just "undergrew" his suit jackets (lost weight) and I wasn't about to buy a new one just for the cruise. LOL My son just wore shirt/tie/black pants/black shoes also on formal night- at 8 I wasn't going to buy him a suit just for the cruise then outgrow it quickly. (point being they did not feel underdressed when wearing this- so a suit is fine if you have it but not necessary)

Thanks, I was afraid of re-starting the whole, shorts vs no shorts debate again...

And I meant to tell you this on the trip report boards...I ADORED your reports!!! I was sad when your cruise was over...lol

Hopefully I can do a decent job on a trip report when we leave!!

We - three females - will be dressed very similar. Slacks and blouse for casual night - pirate outfit -sort of - for pirate nite and wedding attire for formal and semiformal nite.
My parents will be dress like that as well - dad no jacket just tie - I think!
DB and family on the other hand have no plans on dress for any occassion  this is their 3rd dcl cruise and feel it is not at all necessary. Please dont give me, my girls and parents the dirty looks, we cant control him - never could - never will
So you will be just fine - have fun - relax- and make the most of it :thumbsup2
