Bette-- I think you're right. There aren't too many of us in early seating. I think it would be fun to sit together. Any others for an early seating table?

Cathy-- Oh, I agree, definitely a male trait! Looks like Becca's learned the trick early... you stand in front of the TV to get their attention. :p

Colleen

Colleen -- that's funny about Josh putting his head down on the table. Reminded me that when Chris was 9 we were in New Brunswick for my brother's graduation and one of events that we went to was a steak and lobster dinner. It was absolutely packed and we were sitting at a long table with tons of other people. They brought out the kids' meals first and by the time we were served Chris was sound asleep with his head on the table. He didn't wake up at the end of the meal and my brother had to carry him out to the car because he was too big for me to carry. Nobody could believe that he didn't wake up with all the noise in the room but he didn't. We'd had a long couple of days and I guess he'd just had it.

The ceremony was very short. There were 3 of them and first they had to finish filling out paperwork, then the officer had to find the picture of the Queen and then had to corner the commanding officer -- who's a woman which I found interesting. They just swore allegiance to the Queen and country on the bible and that was it. Then it was time to fill in the pay sheet. He's going to be a vehicle technican so that should be a useful skill for him to learn. He's excited because he gets to go to basic training for 6 weeks in the summer. I'm excited because it will be someone else's job to wake him up in the morning.;)

I'm hoping that when he gets home he will be a changed man. He'll get his uniform and kit in a week or so and somehow I don't think the army is going to allow him to spread his stuff from the front door to his room as he does now. He wants to do it and it will be interesting to see how it turns out.

The only bummer is that he's away over his birthday but that doesn't seem to bother him too much. He did say that when he got home not to expect to see him because he's going to be with his friends. :)

He does have a friend who joined the reserves last summer as an engineer and he gets to go to New Brunswick for the summer for training.

I'm just hoping that there are kids his age on the course and that all of them aren't older although there appeared to be a good mix of ages there last night.

Fiona

Cathy we are definitely looking forward to doing the parks with you and Art and maybe Mary Jo. Guess what, when I got the car to the service department the air-conditioner was blowing cold enough to hang meat in the car. Technician said there was nothing wrong. DUH! When it is 85º you sweat that is when I will take it back.

Cowhide answer is wallets? Belts? I don't know. Mike

Talking about a meeting for the MNSSHP on 10/10/03:

I would suggest to meet at the Walt & Mickey-Statue in the small park between Main Street USA and the Castle. But at what time?

We intend to spend at least the afternoon and the evening in MK and plan to do the Pooh-Character-Dinner in the Crystal Palace. As we like Pooh very much we want to celebrate my 40th BD with him ;)

Mike,
today I saw in on of our local supermarkets American-Style Chocolate Chip Cookies and guess what they are called: Tennessee!!!!

Fiona,
just a curious question: Do you still have the draft in Canada or is it voluntarily?

I plan to do MNSSHP on the 19th, which is my nephew's b'day. Last year we celebrated there and had dinner at LTT with love-of-my-life Chip (of Chip & Dale). Will probably do the same this year. If my nephew isn't available (airline pilot schedule - LOL), I will probably take my mother.

Eric - No draft here in Canada. It's completely voluntarily but the draw is that they get paid. Chris figures he'll make $4000 this summer so this is very attractive to him. He also gets paid to go out to the weekly meetings. Before he takes basic training, which is the summer course, he'll get paid $36 for every Thursday night that he goes out from 7:30-10:30pm so $12/hour isn't bad pay for him. He also gets to learn a trade which will be useful as well. Another good thing is that he can't get posted outside of the country until he's 18. One of the units Canada sent to Bosnia is mostly reservists but he wouldn't be able to go until he's 18 which makes me feel better.

Another neat thing is that he will also be eligible for low interest student loans for university.

I am ready to start my weekend and quick!! Off to Peddlers Village (in Bucks County) with Cathy with a C on Sunday (bus trip)--hopefully by Sunday, the weather will be sunny!! Leaving the husbands & puppies at home!!

SURVIVOR..is that Rob a snake or what--he is lying to everyone and Matthew is so gullible to believe him!! Previews looked interesting..fire next week and it seems like Rob talks Heidi into turning against Jenna...so much for being best friends!! I WANT BUTCH TO WIN!!!! Was so mad that Christy got voted off but I loved her tirade about the wicked stepsisters!!!!

Scootersmom...left you a phone message re: Williamsburg..we are on for June 13th dinner in Virginia Beach (we're excited since we have never been to Virginia Beach so pick out a good restaurant and then maybe we could come back to your hotel to gab the night away!! Right now, it looks like Cathy and Art will be coming with us!! I will talk to you soon and then we can make plans on how to meet on Friday night!! Love to Becca and Josh..loved the story about the television..gotta teach Becca early!! (the only thing that would change the June 13th plans will be if Sarah's exams cannot be rescheduled but I will know by Tuesday of next week. Have a great weekend. Wish I knew how to chat on Saturday but that is beyond my computer expertise!!

Sounds like a good deal to me. Learning to take over responsibility for the society and getting paid for it.

Bedtime now - Anja has to be in the hospital at 0625am tomorrow and I have to drive her.
Right now we have a stormfront crossing over Frankfurt with heavy rainsqualls :( It's raining horizontally and teh windows are vibrating :( :( But for Sunday they forecast fair weather again :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Will be in the chatroom tomorrow 10am EST/04pm CET.

Good Night:wave: Yawn.....

The Hopkins Table changes it's name to "That Other Table". We have seven people so far and would love to add you.

We have:
ARL01 (Arlene and Andy)
padisney (Norm and Nancy)
Hopkins (Tina and Bill)
Taswira (Shari)

Good morning all. Hope that everyone is well and we are another day closer to the cruise.

We have our fingers crossed that we are not diverted this year due to hurricanes. We enjoyed San Juan last year, but we have done the St. Thomas thing three times now.

Catch you in the oberfest chat this am. Mike

Hi Folks,

we had a nice chat again this morning: Papa, Scootersmom, Medic204 & I typed away for an hour.

Geez Louise! I forgot about chat this a.m. ! I could have been there too for a short while.

Beautiful day today. A bit of a chill in the air but nice otherwise.

Went shopping today and Rich bought a new suit and I bought a new dress!! Both items are for the wedding in August and the cruise in October! We had fun shopping today. We had fun shopping in the city last week too. Rich usually hates shopping. His philosphy is "go in, get what you came for, and get out and away from the crowds asap"! He seems to be changing ever so slightly as of late. Kinda neat!

Rich says to say that my dress and his suit cost the same amount of money but he got the better deal because he got more material for the buck!

Hopkins - Way to go getting a table going there. You even started the earlier dining shift working on getting a table too!

Ave - Bummer about the Bruce tape. Was DD trying to be helpful cleaning up when she ditched it? Hope you can find a someone to copy tape from.

Alikat - Congrats on Chris winning the trip from work. Did you find out yet if you can go? Will it be hard getting more time off - since you will be taking time off for wedding and scrapbook thing? When you meet Dan, please give him a big hug from me.

PADisneyFan - What is this about Eric and a motor bike?? Did I miss something here? DS's latest thing now is he wants a motorcycle! He told me I took the news quite well. I told him it's because I know he is not getting one!

Fiona - Are you saying that on your way down from Canada you stop at Cracker Barrel and THAT is where you buy/rent the CD books which you return on your way home? Sounds interesting if that is the case. We had a bunch of cassette books and old radio shows on cassettes when we drove to Florida in the late 1990's. But now we have a CD player and no cassette player in the car. If this Cracker Barrel thing is true, is there a big selection to choose from? There are no Cracker Barrels around here. We are driving down and this sounds interesting to us.

CWD - Congrats on posting #3500. Now, come out of lurker mode more often. I had to look you up on the Cruisetoberfest listing because I had no clue who you were.

Mike - "Deader than 4 o'clock" ?? That is definitely a new expression to me! Had me laughing. Actually, I think 3 p.m. is the dead time of the day during working days. I usually get out by 4!

Cheese - Welcome back from WDW. Sounds like a great trip. And welcome back to posting on the thread. Are you caught back up yet, both with the thread and getting back into routine after vacation time? Bummer, huh?

Eric - Actually, your "normal" people statement was on my mind as I thought of you! Just kidding of course. Looking forward to meeting you and Anja again. Many of your comments and jokes have Rich and me laughing.

Cathy - What were you talking about regarding Lovesick teens and threatening letters and a delayed wedding???

Scootersmom - Loved the Josh and Becka story. I can just picture her grinning and mimicking his motions.

Hello to Kathy, Mary, Dan, Windy, Taswira, Bettemom and hopelea (hang on tight there girl!), and all the rest.

Rosemary, Cathy was talking about the carnival ship where they found those threating notes about killing Americans on-board. It turns out they were written by one of the passengers that just wanted to get home to her boyfriend. Now she faces terrorist charges and 20 years in prison. Mike

Glad I'm not the only night owl tonight.

Rosemary-- Missed you at chat. We need some more women to join in on Sat. mornings! I've been the only one the past couple of times.

You can read about the incident with the 20 year old here:

Thanks for the links, Colleen.

There really are some weirdos running around

Hi guys, remember me? Sorry to abandon you all for so long, but I have not been in the mood to post. :(

Work is going better (Kathy, my manager is doing good, her face healed very good!) But with my vacation coming up, I fear that I will come back to a mess! It seems if I take one day off it falls apart, let alone a week! But at least I will be able to call them and check up on them, and then by September/October they should be OK.

Scott and I added on 125 more DVC points (525 now)so we have decieded to just rent those out for the first 5 years and then they will be paid for.

Well gotta run and mow the lawn, hope everyone is doing good.

I really miss chats on Saturdays, but I have to work then, sorry!

Dan
