Cruise 10/11/2003 Part 2

This time next week I'll be sitting in first class, eating another airline meal and likely watching a movie.

I woke up feeling a bit ill this morning. One of Tony's friends was over yesterday and she's got a nasty cold. I told her if she got me sick, I'd kill her! I'm sharpening my knife as I type

New Camera!

I have been fighting with my digital camera for months now -- the door has a sticky spot and the camera will turn itself off. Well, I finally decided that was not good for the quick shots I expect to get on the cruise.

So, I bought a new one! A Minolta DiMAGE Xt, 3.2 Megapixel. It fits in a shirt pocket and VERY light.

Anyone have any experience with this camera?

Can't wait!

Okay, I am starting to panic!! I don't know if I will be able to get everything done I need to before we leave!! One more thing has been thrown on my plate as well..........My dd (9) has informed me that she has absolutely no clothes to wear since it has changed to fall so quickly! It is 65 degrees right now!!

I went to the bank and got my $1 bills for tipping. I also got my $$ for parking at the port. I just don't know how much cash to take with me.

This is the last Wednesday for us!! This is getting really exciting!
I think I am going to start packing again!!

Should I really bring bottled water with me? My dd's and I drink a lot of water. I was thinking that I would fill a rolling suitcase with water than when it is gone, I will have that suitcase for purchases!!!

BTW, Lisa........my dh will be running to change our dinner time also. I will be heading for the spa, my dad is going to PALO and DH is going to where ever we have to go for dinning changes.

Better go........have to help with homework!

Well Scott and I spent our last day off together trying to get everything together.

Really getting excited, sent a package off to Shirley (Perfect Gift) that contains goodys from the Ohio group!

What time is the meet at the Radisson?

Just finished our shirts and actually surprised myself at how well they came out!

We all know the cruise and meet will be worth it BUT the stress of getting ready is ridiculous. Between what we all have to finish up at our jobs and "OMG I hope I don't forget something" I've teased with the idea of just buying "strictly cruise clothes" and when we come home and they get laundered ... putting them back in the suitcases and covering with plastic so they are all ready for next year ... what do you think?

Gotta run and re-think the drive down clothes cause - of course - we have just gotten into a cold snap here ... just can't see myself leaving the house in shorts when it's only in the 30's. Maybe long jeans, t-shirts w/jacket till we get to Georgia.

Dan, sweety - are they still so strict at the port, security wise. Do I have to pack my embroidery sissors in my check-in bag?

OK, THAT'S IT - I CAN'T WAIT TO GET TOGETHER!

Cathy - I was just thinking kinda the opposite. Chris and I are both in need of new undergarments (bras, underwear, undershirts, socks, etc). I'm thinking of stocking up on those items before we leave, and bringing the "old" stuff on the cruise. Then, I can just throw it away, and have extra room for more goodies. Is that crazy?!?!?!

Well, still no word on our camera. We called our insurance company and with only $100 deductible, the will replace it. So, Chris gave them a list of items that were lost, and they are going to get back to us in a day or two with what the replacement cost would be. We'll see what happens. I'm still sad about the pictures being gone, though.

Amy- You are the only one in the group that knows about our special gift! Gosh it has been almost 8 months, I can't believe I haven't told anyone!

Cleaning the house: I will also leave a spotless house behind. I think I do it not only to come home to a clean house, but also to know that my house STAYED CLEAN for a whole week.

Wow Dan, I didn't know that I was the only one!!! I actually forgot about it until about a week ago. Chris mentioned that it would be cool to make one, then I mentioned that you already thought of it. He thought it was really a cool idea, and he was excited about it too. So, I guess that I didn't tell him either.

I don't know if it's the waiting, or the excitement, but the days are DRAGING! We were SO busy at work today, and usually that makes the day FLY by,but NOT today! I am SO READY for a vacation

Jeff and Gaby, when do start your journey?

The countdown for many is now in single digits!!!Since my vacation begins at 4:30pm on Wednesday Oct 8th I am only 7 dasy from my vacation!!!! I know that Thursday will be a busy day, packing, shopping and getting the car ready. And Friday will be spent driving to Florida.

To everyone...PLEASE, drive carefully, even if it's a short trip to the nearby airport. Allow plenty of time, stop when you need to rest, and get to PC safely! Fiona, I think you are driving the greatest distance. Please be careful!

ANYONE who is going to get sick...please do so NOW!!! That will allow time to get sick and recover before the trip. Everyone wash your hands frequently and stay away from anyone who even LOOKS ill. Tammy, stop sharpening the knife, a dull knife would hurt her more!

I agree, everyone drive safely. For me it will be a very stressful two days and I hate taking long drives and worry so much about all the bad things that can happen.

Just tonight DH said he was thinking maybe we'd leave a few hours later, after rush hour traffic is over. He says when he has to wake up early like that he doesn't feel good all day. So, I'd rather have him feel good and be alert. We shall see.

You're not kidding. Since we came back from Chicago, Emily has had a runny nose. I told Chris, better now, than in a week!!!

And definitely to anyone driving, please, please, please be careful!!! Sometimes it's not you, but others around you. So, be alert and aware, and you'll arrive alive!!!

I was able to shampoo our bedroom carpet and the upstairs hall way tonight. Last week I did the family room and dining room. So just leaves the living room and steps to do. The other 2 bedrooms and computer room can wait till we are back.

Have a meeting Thursday night and will be gone for the weekend. So have to pack yet for the weekend trip. Plus now that it is cold, I put away most of the summer stuff tonight that isn't going on the cruise and got out the turtlenecks and sweaters. Last year it wasn't cold yet when we left for the cruise. But it is to cold for me to wear shorts or capris to travel down. Guess we will do jeans and sweatshirts for the trip down. Then we will have them for the return trip as it could be even colder when we are heading back.

Monday hope to finish up the clothes packing. I am going to do capri pants for tropical night. I saw where you can wear shorts to dinner that night, so Norm will do that. Have to fit in a haircut and manicure sometime toward the middle of next week. Gosh when you start to write this all down, it gets to be overwhelming.

Of course, at work it has gotten real busy and have to teach a class Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday so no chance of skipping out early. Why does work always get crazy when I am ready to leave?

I will never get all my hockey stuff done before the cruise, so I guess I will be down in the internet cafe catching up on that while we are cruising. It worked out ok last year with spending about an hour a day there.

I'm tired so off to bed for me.

I *might* have some good news!!

It seems that it is VERY POSSIBLE that we could be the first on the Magic to see the Golden Mickeys!! Okay, don't get your hopes up but I was told by a little birdie that there was a big press event on the 9th on the ship and they were supposed to be previewing the new show.

I have my fingers crossed because I LOVED this show and was so hoping to share it with my family. Cross your fingers everyone and maybe we will get lucky.

Packing tip!...Make photo copies of your birth certificates, passports,credit cards, and drivers licence. Put the copies in your suitcase. If (God forbid) you lose your wallet or are the victim of a crime, you will have the needed info to continue your trip.
Cathy and Kathy...I have triple checked the Birth certificates this year!

Perhaps my information is incorrect, however I was told by Jacqui (cruise director) that the Magic will get all the new props in for Golden Mickeys and the cast from Toronto will practice on the ship while in drydock, but that it would still premier in December when the new cast comes on board! I really hope that perhaps my informations is incorrect-I would love to see the new show!

I hope DCL suprises us with the Golden Mickey's! That would be so awesome to have a new show since lots of us are returning cruisers and have seen the other shows before. They are still great, but a new show would be wonderful! Especially since Golden Mickey's is getting such great reviews. It makes perfect sense, too. A new show right after dry dock, with the new coffee house, teen club and other improvements.

I'm going to be optimistic, if if I get let down, it will be OK I'm still on the Magic.

Good morning!

Just sent out an updated cell phone list. Let me know if there are any problems with it so I can fix it up. Will make a copy for Eric & Anja since they're already in FL.

It's just too stinkin' cold here this morning! It was 33º when Josh and I got up this a.m. I know we're not going to want to come back home!

Went to an awards dinner for Josh last night. Good food and very enjoyable evening. The kids got really nice trophies too. Nice to see all his hard work paying off and being recognized now and then.

We leave one week from today! This past year has been so much fun planning and talking to everyone on this thread, plus meeting some of the families over the summer was great! Finally getting to meet everyone next week will be icing on the cake. We've really appreciated all the help we've had getting ready for our first cruise too!

Safe travels to everyone! Can't wait!!!
