New to this one w/ a 2 yr old daughter. I thought the princesses were there for all meals, but after reading a bit I am now confused! Thanks for your help.

Breakfast & lunch.

Dinner is a little show with the Fairy Godmother and the mice.

So there's not princesses and it's still that expensive!? Is it really worth it for dinner then?

How does it work w/ a 2 yr old? I said we have a 5 yr old and 2 yr old and they didn't charge me for her.

There are many people who just want the experience of eating in the castle and don't care if they get the princess meet and greet...so, that's what dinner is for - a different crowd. If you're looking for princesses, then it's breakfast and lunch!

Up until they turn 3, children are not charged to dine at Disney, she will be allowed to eat off of your plate for free, or you can choose to purchase an entree for her and pay.

Paying for her would be pointless b/c she would hardly eat a thing. However, our son would get the "surprise" and she wouldn't.

I would say it would still be neat to eat in the castle if it didn't cost that much, but that is an awful lot of money to just get to eat in the castle.

Ok, thinking about switching to the one at Norway. But my son wants to eat at the big castle! He doesn't care about the princesses, just the castle and my daughter wants the princess! Maybe we should do both.

We ate at the castle when my son was 2, he did get a meal, they provided buttered noodles and he also got the sword and the wishing star, they did not charge us for these things. the picture with him in his pooh outfit was taken at the castle and the one below in his mickey costume was at the princess dining both great meals

My girls have eaten in the castle twice before they were 3. It was for breakfast both times. They got the wishing wand and star as well as a kids breakfast plate.

If you want to see a lot of different princesses who will come to your table and schmooze, stick with breakfast and lunch.

For dinner you will still see Cinderella in her castle, but only to have pictures taken with her. The other characters are the fairy godmother and the mice. They do a little show. I think now, the mice circulate to the tables, but not for long, just enough to get photos.

Not all the time - at buffets and all you can eat restaurants, they are not charged. CRT is a fixed price, fixed menu meal and they won't be charged there, either. At any CS or a la carte restaurant, if you order something for a child under 3, you will need to pay for it.

hey!

we had breakfast last october with the princesses at the castle. my friend met us so it was me, my (then) 6 year old, (then) 4 year old twins, my friend and her (then) 2 year old daughter. they did not charge for the 2 year old, and did give her a small plate with a few of the plated items on it (can't think offhand). we gave her some more items off of our plates, and ordered any extra that we wanted (particularly the fruit, it was soooo good! the kept us well stocked), and she was given a wand for the wishing ceremony. In fact, one of the kids broke their wand or sword (can't remember which) and a server graciously gave a replacement without blinking an eye.

I loved having breakfast there before the park opened. we finished right around park opening so strolled right into fantasyland. and while my 2 boys were not huge into princesses, they ended up having a great time and loved eating in the castle. not sure norway would have felt quite the same for them.

I think the sweetest thing was how seriously my kids took the wishing ceremony. they were the perfect age, I think. they had their eyes screwed soooo tight and you could tell they were wishing hard! very sweet.

good luck with whatever you decide!

eta, we stayed at the poly last october for the first time. I got such mixed messages about when the monorail started in order to make our 8:05 seating at the castle. got one answer when I called from the room to double check (told no, we would need to take a bus), I went to the front desk to double check and was told something different (don't remember, but it was wrong), finally called my sister in VA who asked people here on the DIS...and guess what, they were the only ones who got it right! lol. so if you do go for the early breakfast, the monorail does indeed run early.

Have you checked into the dinner buffet at 1900 Park Fare at the G.F.? The food was EXCELLENT, Cindy, the Prince, and the mice were great and this is a meal even my husband requests whenever we go! Now I even heard that the Stepsisters make an appearance and are quite entertaining!

Thanks for all of the great advice! We have eaten at 1900 Park Fare, but it's been a while. I wasn't sure about it b/c Snow White's witch was there and my son is afraid of her. Does anyone know if she's still there? It sounds like some of the characters have changed.

It's the dinner at 1900 Park Fare that only has Cindy, Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine, the stepsisters, and the Fairy Godmother - who sits out in the lobby. The buffet was great with a ton of choices for kids, and adults, to choose from - including a wonderful ice cream station!! Good luck to you and I am sure whatever you choose your little prince and princess will love it!
