CRT vs AKershus?

I'm sure this has been asked before, but is CRT worth the extra money? We've done Akershus twice in the past, both on and off the dining plan and chose it because it is less money/1 credit on the dining plan and seems to have the same princesses as CRT. Yes, I know CRT is in THE castle. I have a 7-year-old DD who loves princesses, but I'm not sure whether she will care which one we go to. Pluses of CRT is she wanted to do BBB the day of our princess meal and that is a one stop shop, we can do BBB and CRT both at MK where if we do Akershus, we will have to travel to Disney Springs for BBB. (We will not have park hoppers.) Plus, MK seems like a better place to walk around the park in her princess gear vs. Epcot. But the price gets me every time and Akershus is less expensive. The menu at Akershus also appeals to us more. So help me choose? TIA!

IMHO, you've brought up one of the only reasons to do CRT and that is the convenience off BBB being right next door. That, and, yes I agree, walking around MK with a princess dress seems to "fit in" a little better than in EP. In terms of food and atmosphere is CRT worth it? Not in my opinion, we've always had better food and a better experience at Akershus. I would weigh what's more important to you. The convenience of BBB or the lower cost of Akershus. If you took BBB out of the equation, my vote would be hands-down Akershus.

Worth is different for everyone, we really like both. CRT would definitely be worth it if you will be combining it with BBB, like you mentioned the time savings alone would make it worth it. We did this and we thought it was soooo much better combining the 2 on the same day. We liked the castle atmosphere and food a bit better then Akershus. I would give CRT a try.

I can't comment on Akershus, but DH and I did CRT for our honeymoon and loved it! We didn't have kids with us and it was still a lot of fun to meet the princesses. We were also seated right by the window and that's a tough view to beat. I will say that the portions were a little small, but we didn't leave feeling hungry. We are taking our 9 yo niece next spring so I would say that we liked it enough to go back and use 2 dining credits again. We fly in at night so our TS meal for that night is going towards our meal. We won't have time to even use it that day so it works out well for us. We are treating this trip like our niece's only chance because it may be so we want to give her a great, unique Disney experience.

We’ve done CRT 3x and Akershus 1x mainly because the kids ask to go to CRT every time. They have not asked to go back to Aker and every time I ask they say they’d rather go to CRT. But your daughter hasn’t been so you don’t have that problem. :rolleyes1 I do think that doing BBB and spending the day at MK (lots of people, CMs and other guests, will comment on their princessness) is the more complete experience. But from the point of view of being worth it, I don’t know. I love that we’re eating in the castle. The food had been good but as someone above noted, the quantities are smaller. They seem to have shrunk in 3 years. And I find the dessert options for kids disappointing - it’s a special meal so I don’t like that the majority of options are healthy and the one that isn’t is a peanut butter item. But that’s just me.

CRT is the way to go given your situation with BBB. Plus, it IS the castle...

There is something special about combining BBB and CRT. To a child I think it's magical. It's convenient, too. We did both Akerhaus and CRT when my DD was 6. While we liked both, my DD only wants to return to CRT. We didn't like the food either at Akerhaus. The food at CRT is very nice and tastes much better than the menu descriptions.

If you haven't been before the castle is a must for young princesses. After that Akershus. The princesses do seem to spend more time at Akershus, at the castle they seem a bit rushed.
