Going in May 2011 w/dh and 2dd age 8&6 who have never been before.Know all abt trying to get table for CRT but wonder if 1900 PF just as good.Girls not obsessed with the princesses but do i put myself through the drama of trying to get a table at CRT or just book @1900?:confused3 Any advice would be very much appreciated!!!:confused3

1900 is great. Stepsisters are so funny and the foods pretty good. CRT has the castle and is great for princess fans. But you'll be happy enjoying gf, too. I'd say save the money and go with 1900.Another plus is that at 1900 if you can't make it nothing happens as opposed to CRT where you pay in advance. We always do 1900 with dd4. She loves the gf lobby.

unless you really want the Castle experience, I'd go with 1900 Park Fare...we had great fun there, and you do get Cinderella & Prince Charmings, as well as the steps, at dinner.

If you really want the princesses, but at less cost, book Akershus in Epcot. Even kind of looks like a castle in there.:thumbsup2

DH has never been to WD either so I think he would probably like the interaction w/the steps rather than the castle. Thanks, makes me feel less guilty abt not even trying for CRT!!

You also do not have to pay up-front for a 1900 ressie. CRT is completely different IMO. A more elegant princess experience. 1900 is a (OK) buffet. You don't get all of the princesses and you get no pix with Cindy (except what you take). I am planning to do the Epcot one in Dec. to see if it is more like CRT. It cost less and you get a pix with Belle, I think.

If you are going for dinner, then I would say ditch the Castle and head straight for the delicious buffet that is 1900 Park Fare. The strawberry soup and coq au vin are worth the price of admission. The stepsisters are the BEST character interaction you can wish for, plus you have Lady Tremaine, Prince Charming, and Cinderella. The servers are attentive and the location is great.

I can't comment about 1900 Park Fare for breakfast, but if you don't have an early seating for CRT, then you'll be eating breakfast while wasting precious early morning hours without lines in Fantasyland. That said, the breakfast at CRT is good, especially the french toast.

We were hugely disappointed in CRT when we went a few years ago. The interaction at dinner is very limited - only photos with Cinderella in the lobby. The food wasn't appealing at all.

In '09 we went to 1900 PF & loved it! The character interaction was excellent!! Cinderella & Prince Charming chatted up our DDs while the "steps" were in character throughout. My only warning is to make sure your DD knows the steps are going to act like they do in the movie. My youngest DD was speechless when they told her she had a big stain on her shirt, pointing to the princesses on her brand-new-that-day-from-MK shirt! She thought they were being mean. Our older DDs loved it though!! The food was pretty good too.

We will be trying 1900 after having been to CRT three times (twice at breakfast, once dinner) so I am so happy to hear all these comments!

To the OP however I will say with two daughters I would be very very tempted to take them to eat at the castle at least once...it is truly a magical experience. And the photo with Cinderella is a really nice touch.

If you were to do CRT I would say breakfast before the park opens for sure. Also so long as you make ressies at the 6-month mark you will not have a problem getting in.

With all that said, I am still excited to go to 1900 for dinner in October. Good luck, no matter what you choose, your girls will be happy!

We did 1900 PF a week ago for the free dining. We had a great time. Our ADR was for opening time of the supper session. We did our little picture thing and we then waited for a few minutes with about a dozen other families. The cast members then picked a family with little girls dressed in princess costumes to help officially open the doors and open up the party.

We sat in the main room. They would announce the arrival of each of the characters which was cute. We were at the start of the character greetings so we saw all the characters well before we finished our meal. Yes, step sisters and mother were all great. They pose so great for the pictures. :rotfl:

The buffet was really good. They had quite a few foods that were unusual but we like to try to new things so that was fine. We each found foods that we liked and enjoyed. If you or your family are picky eaters, then this may not be the buffet to choose. The desserts were wonderful and my favorite. The strawberry soup was wonderful. It was even better served over ice cream. MMMMMMM

I almost didn't do this meal because of all the bad reviews but I am sure glad we did try it. We really enjoyed it would definitely do it again.

Since you went to CRT dinner, they have changed things...now it is a princess character meal just like breakfast and lunch there.

We have been to both places, for dinner. And to 1900 PF for breakfast (but not CRT breakfast). Here are my opinions...

1. 1900 PF was, hands down, the very best character breakfast we have been to at WDW. Great character interaction, excellent food, unique offerings on the buffet as well as familiar breakfast favorites. No princesses though...we were there last month and saw Alice, Mad Hatter, Mary Poppins, Tigger & Pooh.

2. The character interaction at 1900 PF dinner (this was back in summer 2008) was excellent and very funny, but we didn't care too much for the food. It wasn't bad, just not our cup of tea compared to other buffets we have experienced at WDW. Only one actual princess there...Cinderella, and she circulates in the dining room.

3. Dinner at CRT last month was excellent! The food was fantastic, service was wonderful, beautiful atmosphere, and the character interaction was wonderful. You take a photo with Cinderella in the lobby (included in the price), but she does not circulate in the dining room. The princesses we saw during dinner were Snow White, Ariel, Aurora and Belle (in her peasant dress).

If I were going for dinner, I would choose CRT over 1900 PF. If it were for breakfast, I would choose 1900 PF, even though we haven't been to CRT for breakfast. But, it's mainly because I think CRT for breakfast is not as worth the money as it is for dinner because of the food. And yes, I know people go there for the experience of eating in the castle, but that's just the way I feel and I am not a cheap person by any means.

Another option, as mentioned in this thread already, is Akershus. We went there for lunch last month, and it was excellent as well. The photo is also included in the price. We got to take a photo with Belle (in her ball gown). She did not circulate in the dining room. During lunch, we saw Snow White, Aurora, Cinderella, and Jasmine. There is no guarantee you would see Cinderella here though, we just considered ourselves lucky.

Whatever you choose, I'm sure you will all enjoy it!!! :goodvibes
