So I just upgrade our trip to include free dining! :cool1:

However, now I have a question. We were paying OOP before and had CRT booked for dinner. They have already charged my credit card for this meal but now I want to use the dining plan to pay for it.

Do you know if it is possible to get the meal credited back to my card and then use the dining plan? :confused3

Thanks

Absolutely yes. Just call them.

Ok..Well I did call last night and the CM that I spoke too said it needs to be done at the restaurtant once we are there.

I wasn't sure if the was correct...Was the CM wrong? Should I call again?

I have been around here long enough to know that CMs are not always correct so I wanted to get the advice of thos in the know!:)

From what I have seen, sometimes they do it on the phone and sometimes they don't.

You can always get it refunded and switch your payment to dining credits when you arrive at the restaurant. The ambiguity comes in when you try to do it ahead of time.

You can call again and see if you get someone who will refund your payment now. Be careful - don't let them cancel your reservation - be very specific that you do not want to cancel it.

I did they same last year they offered to refund when I got there

Unless you need/want the money refunded to your credit card now, it is easier and safer to wait until you are at the restaurant. Servers are quite used to changing the payment from cc to credits and vice versa.

As Nala said, if you call because you want the refund now, be very clear that you do not want the reservation cancelled. This seems to be the most common method of refunding cc payments, but with the popularity of CRT, you run the very real risk of someone else getting the reservation between the time the CM cancels yours and then re-books it.

do they charge the whole cost upfront? or just put a credit card hold on it and charge when you show up?

If you are not using the DDP, then they will charge your CC the full amount upfront. If you are using the DDP, then they will just need a CC# just to hold your reservation, the only way they will charge your CC is if you are a no show.

OP, I have called the dining line after I had paid for my CRT ADR upfront and they did cancel the reservation and then had to rebook it using my credits. The good thing about that was that it happened so far in advance that there were still times available for what I wanted (luckily). I highly suggest waiting to go to the restaurant to do this because it is not worth the stress of having the ADR being cancelled and then finding out that there is nothing available for you afterwards.

As a friendly reminder (that you probably already know or someone could already have mentioned and I just missed it): I believe CRT is 2 credits. So depending on your other dining plans and budget, you may want to just pay for it OOP anyway to maximize the value of your DDP.

Apologies if this redundant! Love, love, love CRT so whether OOP or on the DP, make sure to keep that ADR! princess:
