We have ressie for CRT in December and I have read that the kids will get a sword or wand. Just curious..how magical are these toys?? I expect they are just a piece of plastic. Considering the prices I am hoping they light up or something.

any tips or reviews about CRT are greatly appreciated. I am sure we will be excited just being in the castle. I just need some bang for the buck- to make my husband just as excited as myself and the kids :)

They are little and plastic...kind of silly. But the CRT experience is wonderful. Our daughter was just telling us yesterday how sad she is that we are not planning this as an ADR in March '08.

The wand is not that great. The words on the wand already faded off. We were there three weeks ago. Also not much bang for the buck. I guess everyone has their own thoughts on the place but for myself I will pass the place up the next time.

Definatly nothing exciting. I got a wand on my birthday, which was cute, and I still have it, but it just sits in my box of random trip memorabilla.

We got 2 wands for our girls and 3 swords for our boys. The wands were plain old blue plastic, not even dainty wands but big ole fat ones LOL They also gave us 5 wishing stars....not sure exactly what these were for? We were never told but they were kind of useless and none of our kids got the point of them.

Since we had so many in our party though, we did get 2 photo packages (sadly in both they snapped when my youngest had his eyes closed), and they rush you through the photo line so there was no redoing that. The food was decent, nothing to write home about though. I think the only thing that we all really enjoyed was the blueberry stuffed pastry and the bread basket, everything else was normal breakfast food, comparable to something from Chef Mickey's...etc.

Since you mentioned chef mickey's.. can you give me your take on that? We also have dinner ressie there (on our first night)

Thanks

Hunk of plastic - but they pack quite a punch if your 2 year old decides to thump you with it while attempting to perform a bit of magic - Bibbidy, Boppity, WHACK!!!! :headache:

We have had the CRT experience twice. Breakfast when the girls were 4 and 2, and dinner when the were 5 and 3.

My husband and I were both pleasantly surprised with the experience. We had VERY LOW expectations for the meals and I think that actually helped because the experience surpassed anything we had envisioned. We expected to shell out boatloads of cash for a Denny's style meal with grumpy princesses. Instead, the food was fine and the princesses were very pleasant (I do feel that the interaction is better in Toontown, but CRT is so much easier). Sure, I would get a better meal for the price in the "real" world, but if you going into the meal understanding and accepting this reality, then you will be fine. I don't know how to get your husband excited about a princess character meal - mine sure wasn't, but he is very easy going and would pretend to be giddy every time the girls mentioned eating at Cinderella's castle.

We liked breakfast because we had an ADR before the park opening - made for a leisurely morning and we avoided that big crush of people at opening. The princesses were all fresh as daisies and in very good moods.

We liked dinner b/c it made for such a pleasant evening. We toured MK in the morning, then went back to our hotel for a rest - our only evening plan was dinner at CRT. We ended up eating dinner at CRT and then we rode a few Fantasyland rides, hit Pooh's playful spot and went back to our hotel. No pressure, no stress - just a relaxed evening at the castle followed by watching our kids frolick in MK. I honestly think that is why we have such fond memories of CRT - we were always relaxed for those reservations (the stressful part was securing the reservation :) ).

Next trip, we are going to try and get an early lunch ADR - we figure we will arrive at opening, tour for a while, then head to our princess lunch before heading out of the park.

I'm sure you will have a nice time. We did have to wait a bit in the lobby before seeing Cinderella, but once we got into the dining room, service was prompt (but I didn't feel rushed, they bring stuff quickly, but I didn't feel like they were trying to kick me out or anything).

The wand that our daughter received broke about 2 minutes after we left the Castle. She was 6, so it wasn't like she was acting crazy with it. My husband did take it back, and they replaced it. Later we saw a little girl who had the same problem. Also, my son's sword handle cracked. Again we were given a replacement.

We actually didn't know that we would be receiving anything, so we were pleasantly surprised by the whole experience.

Although just plastic my kids loved their wands/sword and played with them for a long time (and still do from time to time). We thought the whole experience was very magical and special. We had lunch at the CRT in June (we got a ADR the same morning, but that´s a whole other story). It is expensive, but worth every penny to us :)

We've never had dinner at Chef Mickey's...only breakfast (twice). But we like the food. Nothing 'spectacular' but we really like food we'd eat at home, we don't get all adventurous when we go on vacation (with food) or we'd spend a lot of our vacation in the restrooms LOL (TMI).

Anyhow, the breakfast had a kids spot with Mickey waffles, breakfast PBJ Pizza and kid friendly stuff. They had a cold fruit section with a few cold salads (carrot/raisin and a pineapple/apple), lots of fruits to choose from too. They had a 'sweet section' with doughnuts, danish...etc and then a full bar of hot food (hashbrown casserole, breakfast pizza, gravy, biscuits, eggs, two kinds of egg/cheese mixes, pancakes, grits, bacon, sausage links...etc).

One other thing I didn't like about CRT was that there was really no room. We tried to get pictures with all of us in with the characters but all the tables are so crowded together it was just impossible. We weren't rushed through our meal...but were rushed through the lobby/pictures. It is a plated buffet though, so I suppose we could have sat there and had lots of those blueberry things LOL

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but we also have CRT dinner reservations in December. I lucked into them today! Are the photos included with the prepaid price, or are they additional? Also has anyone taken a toddler- DD will be 18 months and I was a little worried she would be too young for this.

Thanks!!!
