CRT dining plan CC charged

I am part of DVC an we had a room booked and purchased the dining plan, prior to our 180 days to make adrs our waitlist came through and unfortunately as not told that my dining plan could not be transfered over an would need to be repurchased..soo not knowing I did not have the dining plan went ahead and made our ADRS including one for CRT and of course was charged the full amount versus just having my CC put on hold..when I called to try to rectify I was told even though I was going to repurchase the dining plan they could not reverse the chrges for CRT and I would have to wait until November when I go to WDWand speak to the people at CRT the day of our ressie to have our CC credited??
has anyone ever dealt with a similiar issue??

Once you have the DP rebooked you can have the charges reversed. However, sometimes they will have to cancel and rebook it which means your time may no longer be available. I would personally wait to do it until you check into the restaurant to keep everything the same.

Sometimes they can modify it, but I just don't trust them to do it honestly.
 
Once you add the dining plan to your new DVC reservation you can call the dining reservation line to have the dining credits attached to the CRT res and your credit card can be refunded. Be sure the CM understands that you only want to modify the form of payment. Because the easiest way to refund is to cancel the reservation some CM will want to do that. You do not want this to happen because in the time between cancelling and re-booking someone else might snatch the res and then you would be without a reservation. If the CM wants to cancel ask for a supervisor or hang up and call again. Even when using dining credits to secure the reservation you will still have to give your credit card info for the no show guarantee.

Or you can wait until you get to CRT and let your server know you want to use dining credits instead. This occurs often enough so the servers are familiar with the process. If you don't mind waiting for the refund, this is what I would do.

Yes, this. Similar situation, OP, and I am opting for refund the day of. I have had too many snafus to be entirely trusting that it will go well.

To clarify this - DRC Agents do NOT have the ability to modify forms of payment on a reservation that has already been paid. You will need to call Billing and Research to have that done.

CRT reservations are made through dining reservations and not DRC or CRO.
 
I just paid the full $292 today because I am not yet on the dining plan.

She said I call call anytime after I upgrade to get my refund.
 
I'm in the opposite predicament. I said I wanted to use the dining plan when I made our reservation for CRT. I think I would rather pay OOP for this one. Can I let them know when we get there that I want to use a CC instead of the dining plan?

At $73pp I think I would stick to the dining plan. My $292 is 60% of the entire upgrade cost for our party.

Yes. Let your server know you are not using the dining plan and when it comes time to pay just give your cc or cash to the server.

If you're worried about having the money tied up for that long, remember that you can way until 48 hours prior to add the dining plan to your reservation.

I believe it's common for people to have the pre-payment credited and dining plan charged at CRT.
 
FYI - I am a Dine Agent. I work for DRC.

Okay, I learned something new, but most people will call the dining number WDW-DINE rather than the DRC number when modifying CRT reservations. If the CM cannot make the modification then hopefully they will transfer the call to the appropriate office, but I think it would be confusing to tell people here on the boards that they need to call Billing and Research for this CRT reservation modification.
 
No, you are correct. Will transfer them to the billing office when they call regarding modification of payment. I just wanted everyone to be aware up front that we don't have the ability to change forms of payment on the system that we use.:)
