CRT -- Did I miss something?

We are finally going to do CRT this time, after two previous trips where we had hoped to go, but couldn't get a reservation.

From my research both times, CRT included tax and tip on the DDP. However, when I went to price it out OOP on the website (to decide whether to do DDP, DxDDP or pay OOP) it gave me a cost for the meal, tax and tip ... then a total cost.

This got me to thinking that maybe they are charging separately for the tax and tip. Is it still included if using dining credit?

Also, if part of our party is on the DDP and part are not, then how do I make the CRT reservation so that all of our children are eating at the same time as us, without paying for the whole thing OOP?

I think that it only gives you the breakdown for informational purposes. If you opt to use the dining credits to pay for CRT, then it includes everything.

From the DDP brochure:
"Two meals for each person dining at Cinderella’s Royal Table will be redeemed from their meal plan balance. Gratuities are included."

Since some will be using the DDP and others will be paying out of pocket you will have to call to make the reservation. You will still have to leave a credit card number as a guarantee for the cancellation/no show policy, however.

If you make the reservation on line you will be charged for everyone, but you will be refunded at the restaurant.

Do not pay up front for the reservation if you are using the dining plan whether calling or booking online. I think the only reason people do this is because they are unaware you only need to give your credit card as a guarantee if you link the reservation to your resort reservation that includes a dining plan. Even a member of the Mom's panel frequently gives this bad information, so not everyone knows about it. It will ask you when you book if you want to link them.

If you do link them, it will just take your credit card info. Then, the system charges your card only on the dining reservation date if you no show or do not cancel in a timely manner. Your credits will be removed at the restaurant if you show up.

That being said, two dining plan credits does cover tax and gratuity at CRT. It separates the pricing for those paying out of pocket, so they can see the breakdown. If this was not done, more people would probably over tip (since gratuity is paid in advance and they may not be aware). We still chose to give a little extra, since our waitress was outstanding. However, we deducted the extra tip by what was already included and what we wanted to add up to. Example, the automatic gratuity is around 15%. She deserved 25%, so e left the extra 10% on the table.
