What I found by searching is that adding the FD promotion would give a credit for the CRT reservation I made on my credit card, but since I added the promo online I never got to ask or saw anything about that. So this year, does the credit happen automatically or do I need to call?
Also we are going for breakfast and I think its a good use for us as it is one of the reasons we upgraded to the TS plan as the upgrade cost is half covered by CRT alone, but I keep reading its a waste of 2 credits. Any input about keeping it OOP or paying with the dining plan?
Thanks!

You have to call WDW DIne and do that yourself. The room and restaurant reservation systems are separate from each other.

CRT breakfast, monetarily, isn't a good use of adult meal credits if you are on the DDP (Deluxe Dining is a different matter)
For instance,
you can eat breakfast at Crystal Palace and dinner at Ohana for 2 TS...cost is $69.21 (plus tips)
CRT breakfast is 2TS and cost is $58.15 (tip included)

However, with free dining, you don't have to maximize the value of your credits as much as if you paid for the dining plan outright because your cost was less initially. Also, using 2TS for CRT is better than the TS credits going to waste. Also, say you keep CRT and pay for it. And now you use your TS credits for Ohana and Crystal Palace (as example above), well now you are obligated to pay tips, so your budget goes up even further.

ETA: Personally, I would pay for it OOP and find other meals to use the TS credits on because I prefer table service meals. However, if I didn't have other TS meals I wanted to do, and if I wanted to keep my expenses down, I would use the TS credits.

Thank you! That's kind of what I was thinking. Not sure what we'll do yet as there are so many places we'd like to try, but there is only so much time.

Yeah, my problem with the dining plan is that we like too many TS...not enough to justify Deluxe, but on the regular, we pay for a bunch of TS OOP and then don't use the CS credits.
