CRT - Better to use 2 credits and pay OOP elsewhere?

We booked CRT on the DDP, but planned to pay OOP for the meal, so as not to use 2 credits on it.

Now I'm wondering - would it be more cost effective to use the credits there, and pay for one TS meal elsewhere that week? It seems like the cost of a meal at some place like the Garden Grill would be considerably less that the cost of CRT.

Does that sound right or am I missing something?

Personally, I would pay OOP for CRT and save the credits for elsewhere. The reason is because it's a 2 credit meal - if you pay OOP - you'll have 2 meals elsewhere. With all the restaurants that are 1 credit meals, you'll probably get more bang for your buck this way. Just my .02.

I understand that lots of people aren't familiar with how forums work and they don't know how to use the search feature very well. For this reason, the same exact questions are posted every day.

What I don't understand is why there are so many times like this one where the exact same topic is posted three times within the same day and all three of them appear within the first page or two.

It's like people post before they even look at what's there.

The question is if the Garden Grill is less than half the cost of CRT since it only costs one credit. Dinner at CRT is $40 (plus tax and tip) and the Garden Grill is $28 so paying for CRT makes economic sense.

Now if you're exactly one credit short paying for Garden Grill might make more sense than paying for CRT and then checking out with one unused credit.

Maybe you are the one who needs to learn how to use a forum.. If you dont want to answer then don't.... We try not to be rude here... at least most of us .

Anyways I think it is better to pay opp for CRT which is what we will be doing in Sept when we have breakfast. I dont think it is worth using 2 credits. Have a great trip. :goodvibes

And this comment was ... nice? :confused3 IMO, anyone who has been around for a couple of months *should* know how to use the Search feature by now.

Back to the OP: I don't think CRT is cost effective at all, using credits *or* paying cash. Eating in the Castle is not "all that" and you can get Princesses elsewhere for one credit. If you are set on going to CRT, I *might* use credits for a child since the value per credit is about $15 and pay OOP for myself.

Point taken... but still the poster just had to tell them to use it.... not go into a rant about it. jmho though.

I'm quite familiar with the way forums work, thank you. I am also familiar enough with THIS forum to know that the search feature rarely works.

If you don't like my question, just move on.

For a newbie, you really seem to enjoy causing trouble where ever you go.

Hmmm ... it works for me all the time. Have you checked out the Advanced Search? You can select just certain boards or sub-boards and (my favorite!) see the answers by POSTS instead of THREADS. It really does work quite well.

Geez, it takes just as much time to rip the person as answer the question.
Case in point.

The threshold per credit is about $24 (not counting tax and tip). CRT is below the threshold of value per credit for two credits. Whereas at $28, the Garden Grill meets the threshold So If you had two other places in mind at about 28 each, then pay for CRT. If you did not and you're an odd credit short, pay for Garden Grill.

As opposed to.

So why not just answer the quesiton? If there's another thread close, just link it. Is it really too much trouble? If so do just don't respond. It's not like the OP put out a misleading thread title such as FREE DISNEY TIX or something.

Actually, I normally do just answer the question. I'm sorry that my frustration came out in this post as opposed to some of the other ones which are posted even more frequently.

I've been posting on boards like this (not Disney related) for 10 years and this is the first forum I've ever encountered where the moderators don't filter out repeat posts. Most forums have a "NEWBIES READ THIS BEFORE POSTING" section and many even have a notification that pops up on the screen for a newbie's first few new threads which reminds them to search the forums for an answer first.

As a reader, I find it really frustrating to see the same questions posted over and over again. Up until this particular post I've answered the questions over and over again. Every day the same new topics are posted...things like "Which CS meals are big enough to share?", "Are DDP credits pooled?", "How is the food at Sci-Fi?", etc., etc., etc. I find myself typing the exact same answers day in and day out. I feel like a broken record.

It isn't a question of how long it takes to type an answer to the question. It's a matter of how flooded the forum is and how frustrating it can be to see the same topics printed over and over again.

Honestly, considering the popularity of this forum, I'm very surprised that there are so few sub-categories. As an example, why not have a separate subforum in the restaurant section for each Disney restaurant. The questions posted in the subforum would relate solely to that restaurant, and it would be VERY easy for the posters to find answers to their questions without having to repost.

To the OP: I apologize for picking on this thread. It really wasn't anything personal at all. This is just an issue about this forum that always bothers me and the only reason your post is the one that set me off is because there were two other identical ACTIVE topics at the time.

But from time to time, and quite a bit lately, especially late in the evening for me, the search function seems to freeze up and time out. So, I'm of the mind that we should cut some slack to those who ask questions. BTW, has anyone been successful at getting Boolean to work? I'm finding, when I type in something such as "Food and Wine" or Food AND Wine, etc... that whether I use quotation marks, or AND, or OR, or whatever... I'm getting every post that contains the word food, every post that contains the word wine, and every post - which literally means every post - that contains the word and, but it's not narrowing it down to just the words I'm searching for, in the combination I'm searching for....does this make sense???

To the OP, I'm sorry this thread got hijacked. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming: To answer your question, I'd figure out where you're planning to go both point wise and food wise, and see which way works best for you in your particular situation. Another option would be to pay oop for half your meals and use 1 point for the other half, so 4 diners - 2 TS credits, and 2 oop dinners.

I actually did a cost analysis on this and generally, yes, you will come out better to pay OOP for CRT and use the two credits for two additional TS meals.

As to whether or not you think CRT is worth the money - well, that is a question only you can answer. Personally, I plan to pay for this OOP for lunch when we go in September. I find it a much better deal than paying $225 for the Perfectly Princess Tea Party since my DD already has three American Girl dolls.
