We are thinking about doing either CRT or HDDR for our trip this fall... I was reading up on these restaurants and I saw something about gratuities already being paid, is that true, even with using the dining plan?? I know they are both 2 credits.

Also I saw that HDDR had beer, is that included in the price???

For HDDR can you go to the earlier show/dinner and just do tier two or three?

Which would be better for our group it will be 3 adults and two girls ages 3 and 11? The 3 year old is all about princesses the 11 year old is more into pirates. All of the adults are fine with either.

Should I have the dining plan purchased before I make the ADR or when I book can the use the credit card for security and then use the dining plan once we arrive? (We are DVC members and I just haven't done the dining plan as a member yet.)

TIA

I cannot speak to CRT as I've never been, but I imagine that the 3 year old would LOVE CRT. That being said, they both (and especially the adults) would also love HDDR! I LOVE HDDR! It's my first night must-do. Just starts the vacation out right.

For HDDR, gratuities are included even when using the DDP at 2 credits. You can do the earlier shows with tier two or three. There really isn't a bad view in the house.

HDDR does have beer! Unlimited beer! Budweiser though... but included in the price! It also has unlimited Sangria that is really really good. If you and the other adults order the same beverage, they tend to bring you a pitcher of it.

As for the purchase, you should have the dining plan before booking, but they will still require a credit card for the reservation. I do know that you can prepay with the credit card and then call Disney once you have the Dining Plan and get it switched over. I have never had any issue booking HDDR even last minute, so I wouldn't be too stressed if you wait until you have the dining plan added. To be sure, I'd make sure I had it all figured out before I left for WDW.

Hope you have a fabulous time! I'll be doing HDDR in mid-December.

We are thinking about doing either CRT or HDDR for our trip this fall... I was reading up on these restaurants and I saw something about gratuities already being paid, is that true, even with using the dining plan?? I know they are both 2 credits. Yes, CRT and Hoop De Doo are fully prepaid, inc. gratuities.

Also I saw that HDDR had beer, is that included in the price??? Yes, wine also.

For HDDR can you go to the earlier show/dinner and just do tier two or three? Yes, depending on which show time there are specific tiers that qualify on the dining plan.

Which would be better for our group it will be 3 adults and two girls ages 3 and 11? The 3 year old is all about princesses the 11 year old is more into pirates. All of the adults are fine with either. It really depends on if you like the down home humor and entertainment with plenty of comfort food that the HDDR provides or the atmosphere and opportunity to meet the princesses at CRT. The food isn't the highlight at CRT, but you'll be dining in a castle, having your photo taken with Cinderella and meeting 4 more princesses. Girls get a wand (or sword if they prefer) and a wishing star.

Should I have the dining plan purchased before I make the ADR or when I book can the use the credit card for security and then use the dining plan once we arrive? (We are DVC members and I just haven't done the dining plan as a member yet.) If you have the dining plan you can book using dining credits. You will still have to give credit card info for the no show guarantee. If you book before you get the dining plan, you will be charged the full amount for everyone, but once you have the dining plan you can get a refund. You'll need to call the reservation line, but be very clear that you only want to modify the payment method. Do not let them cancel your reservation and rebook with the new payment method because in the brief time between cancelling and rebooking someone else might be checking on line and take your now cancelled res. Ask for a supervisor or hang up and call again if the CM wants to cancel, refund, rebook. You can also wait until you pick up your HDDR tix or dine at CRT to change to payment method. One more thing about HDDR, seats are assigned in the order that the reservations are made.

The included beer is Bud Lite. Other varietes are available but you would need to pay extra to get them.

They had a house red and white wine available, no idea of the brand.

Sangria is also included. Other cocktails are available for an extra cost.

Thank you everyone for answering my questions! I think we may have to do a vote to see what restaurant we will choose.

I've done both, and for your group, I would suggest the HDDR.
I went last year with DD(10) and DS(14) and we laughed until our sides hurt.

CRT is a nice princess experience, but there are so many other opportunities to meet princesses in the parks that you shouldn't have any trouble helping your DD get her fill.

JMO, of course, I don't think you can really go wrong either way.:goodvibes
