Hi everyone,My family is coming to visit DL in April,we have a package deal, staying at Crown Plaza. Can anyone tell if this is a nice resort, any any information would be greatly appreciated...thank sos much

We have not stayed there, but our friends did on a trip we all took together. Here's what I know about this hotel:

- There's a $12 "resort" fee, which covers parking, shuttle to DL, Internet use, and other small things. You will probably see that daily charge on your bill when you check out.
- It's across the street from Target.
- There's a Joe's Crab Shack, Red Robin, Outback just a short walk away.
- It has been recently refurbished, so the rooms are nicely updated.

You'll probably find more reviews on it if you go to www.tripadvisor.com. Overall, it's a very decent hotel in Garden Grove. Have a great trip in April!

If the room was paid for as part of a package, the $12 resort fee is already covered. We stayed here in May through WDTC.... I would say that for the price we paid, this hotel would not be my first choice. I have heard of other people getting good deals like $50/night and for that price, I might stay here again. It looks okay, clean, but nothing special. We paid for "concierge" - which means nothing.

It does have a shared shuttle with the Hilton, which is nice - no ART. The only issue here is that it stops at the Hilton first so it is usually crowded when it gets to the Plaza. The shuttle does not start early enough for MM, if you have it. We used a taxi that day.

Joe's Crab Shack is yummy! We had room service from the hotel once and would not recommend it - blech! With so many good restaurants so close, no need to waste your money.

I really like the rooms, very comfortable. I love the sleep kit they give out with ear plugs, eye mask, linen spray and a soothing CD. Didn't like the parking situation. It's a big lot in the back of the building which is also used for conventions and meetings at the resort. It can be a dark walk back after your park at night. I liked being able to walk to Target.

Sign up for the Priority Club if you aren't already. It's the Holiday Inn family of hotels frequent stay club. There's no fee for it, but they'll give you a welcome kit when you check in which includes some food discounts and a free coffee.

The shuttle worked well enough but I don't like being on a schedule so I drove most days. But I have parking on my AP, so that wasn't an added cost.

It definitely depends on the package. Our friends got the room on a Priceline bid for about $40/night. Other friends got it thru an Expedia package. In both cases, they had to pay the $12 daily resort fee. Since it was their first time staying at the hotel, the extra $12 fee was a surprise to them. But not really a big issue to them as their rates/package was still a good deal at the end of the day. The OP may want to check to see if the resort fee is covered already in the package or not to avoid any surprise charges at the end of their visit.

thanks for all your help,I was able to get a great deal for the hotel on Priceline..only50.00 pernight..You cant beat it,it looks quite nice from the photos

If you did the 'name your own price' on Priceline, then you will have to pay the resort fee. If you booked a 'vacation package' then it will probably be covered. My guess is that at $50 you did the 'name your own price'. Just wanted you to be forewarned about the extra fee.

It's a great place to stay when you get it at that price, even with the resort fee.

I stayed at this property a few years ago:

The Good
1. The rooms are really nice! I thought the color scheme was nice, everything was very clean, new. The room also smelled nice and it had that "fresh feeling."

2. The staff was very nice and very helpful. It's usually a big deal if I notice this, since I don't really require much attention from hotel staff.

The Bad
1. The rooms are nice but they are LOUD!!! The walls are PAPER THIN! I am not a light sleeper, but the family next door to me woke me up every morning! I felt like their kids were standing right next to my bed!! SO bring earplugs if this might bother u.

2. The parking situation really stinks. There was a wedding going on when i was there, and the wedding guests took up almost ALL the spaces! I had to park WAY in the back of the building and I didn't feel too safe...I felt really far away and secluded. Also, the back of the hotel looks over a neighborhood that looked a bit seedy to me. I am a cop and I don't always get nervous places, but I did in this parking lot. Also, if I had kids with me I would have been very upset about walking so far, and I am a runner and love to walk.

Overall...I liked the hotel very much...it was nice having target and restaurants close by. Just beware the thin walls and parking but you will love the room and comfy beds otherwise! Have fun!!! :-)
