CROWDS!

Don't go Columbus day weekend. I can tell you that for 100% certain.
Our dates for next October are 16th - 31st. We are from the UK so unsure of the Coloumbus weekend dates?

We know the closer to Halloween it gets the busier it's going to be BUT now I'm doubting it and thinking it's going to be busy the whole time!

Also October is Free dining for Uk packages ( saw a pp about FD in Oct )

Columbus weekend is like the first weekend in October, so you will miss that insanity, thankfully.

It's the new slower season, at least. I was shocked at how few people there were in late July 2016, and at not needing several of the FPs we'd booked. Crowds were lower than they were during our early February 2014 trip, and our late January 2016 trip, both of which were during traditionally very "low", non-holiday periods. The only time I've seen lower crowds was in January 2009- the depths of the recession.

The resort rates are also lower in summer than in fall or spring, and more discounts have actual availability, so summer trips are cheaper than fall or spring trips. Booking ADRs only several weeks out was a non-issue, too.

Is July stupid hot with the humidity and daily thunderstorms or just August? If so, that may be a factor.
I'm thinking ahead as we just returned from Disneyland and want to return to WDW in a few years but struggling with when. Oct in 2014 was pretty good time in terms of crowds and weather but sounds like this year is awfully busy. Also, we'd be looking at either March break or summer (or Family day weekend) as we'd no longer take our kids out of school but worried of Aug/July weather.

I think the reality is that October is way more crowded than it used to be. I wouldn't expect the same crowds next year that you had in 2014. Last October was very crowded all month long, this October seems to be a bit worse. I expect that trend to continue.

We will be there half of a week before Thanksgiving week begins starting the 15th. Hoping for a few days of decent crowds before the craziness begins!!

Being in the middle of summer, July does feature summer weather.
