Been here all seasons, including Xmas but the crowds are nuts today. At Epcot cars are parking on grass areas. Lines to get on are 300' deep.

It's worse than I remember....lol....fortunately have FP+ for Soarin' and Test Track. Then back to resort to lounge by the pool...

We were at Epcot on NYE. We didn't hit the park up at opening (8:00 am), but decided to get there for World Showcase opening at 9:30. World Showcase was fairly empty until around 11am, and was nuts by 12:30 when we headed to our lunch reservation at Le Cellier. After lunch we had Soarin and Test Track FP+ scheduled. Moving about the park was an adventure! We saw the wait times on the MDE app, but I had a hard time believing people would wait 3.5 to 4 hours for any ride....but they were. Madness! After riding TT we decided to take the long way around World Showcase to the International Gateway (had a flight to catch) and the masses of people were a sight to behold. There were taped off seating areas all around the World Showcase, and they were all packed. Lines for the bathrooms were looooong. Booze flowing every. The scary thing is, all those people staking out viewing locations around the World Showcase at 5pm probably weren't going anywhere, other than to get another drink, until after the midnight fireworks. I can't imagine how that could be any fun, especially if you were there with kids. It sure was interesting to see.

It's not fun...it's pure stupidity.
That's why you don't want to go. No upside...a ten second countdown and fireworks?
People do get worked up for the silliest things.

No need to go that far.

We went to EPCOT on NYE this year to with the intent just to see the fireworks. We didn't arrive till 4ish and while I would probably never do it again, I did enjoy the night and am glad I got to experience it once.

For starters, arriving and leaving we went through international gateway and the Beach Club which I think made a world of difference because we never had to experience the front of the park. We also had 8 o'clock dinner reservations which meant no waiting in a long line for food for us.

Some places around World Showcase were very crowded, but not all and it wasn't horrible walking around. It was moveable and as long as you camped out early (we got a good spot at 9 but I would probably suggest getting there a hour earlier) you got a spot to just sit and hang.

I personally thought the atmosphere was worth it and not stupid. Everybody had hats and noise makers and it was just exciting. And the fireworks were amazing! It was more than a 10 second countdown worth, they did probably 10 extra minutes of fireworks and how they did it was very cool.

Again, would probably never do again because it is a lot of planning and stress, but it is not stupid and it was exciting!

As someone who was there I can tell you there were fireworks at 6:30 and after those a lot of people did clear out or move at least for a little bit.
