Crowds Week of December 11

Hello everyone,

I was wondering how the crowds would be the week of December 11. We are looking at (maybe) going Sunday December 11-Thursday December 15 (or maybe just three nights). Are the crowds totally crazy by this time. We went once the week right before Christmas many years ago and it was a bit crazy. We also went the second week of December two years ago, and the crowds were decent. How would this week compare?

I've gone to DLR on the weekend before Christmas. In 2009, I felt it was too crowded for me to enjoy myself, so I decided that in 2010 I would make my holiday trip a bit earlier in the month in hopes of avoiding huge crowds.

Last year I was there from Sunday, December 12 - Wednesday, December 15. The Cast Member parties were on 12/13 and 12/14.

Honestly, Wednesday, 12/15 was the least crowded day in the parks, I thought. And it still was not 'slow,' by any means. It was just less crowded than the other days. Sunday, 12/12 and Monday, 12/13 were really, really crowded - much more so than I expected. The lines for POTC and HMH were crazy. On Tuesday, 12/14, it started to get a little less crowded, but it was still pretty packed.

This year, we think that the CM parties are going to be held on Monday, 12/12 and Tuesday, 12/13 (though there are conflicting reports from different Disneyland Resort camps/offices as to whether or not those dates are actually official and confirmed yet). So that Monday and Tuesday may be extra crowded in Disneyland earlier in the day, as people try to get all their rides and activities in before DL closes at 6 p.m., and then California Adventure might see a surge of people after 6 p.m., as all the people who were kicked out of DL venture across the esplanade to see World of Color or whatever.

We are going the week of Dec 11-15... I didn't realize it would close for cast parties.... Does anyone have info on this??? I'll have to revize my itinerary!

What I said in my previous post is the info. We think the Cast Member parties will be held on 12/12 and 12/13 this year, but there are conflicting stories coming from different offices within Disneyland Resort about whether that has actually been confirmed yet. Some CM's in Disneyland Dining are saying those are the dates (but Dining has been known to be inaccurate on occasion). Another CM I spoke with in a totally different DLR office said that nothing has been confirmed at all about the CM parties and that the Dining people were jumping the gun.

We will probably know for 100% sure within the next week or two. But I would say that, most likely, the CM parties will be held on those dates.

Disneyland will close at 6 p.m. on CM party nights (3 hours early, I think) and California Adventure will stay open until its usual closing time, which is 8 p.m., I think? (Or is it 9 p.m.?)

The fireworks, parade, snow on Main Street, Winter Castle lighting and all of that will still happen before DL closes, but everyone has to leave at 6 p.m.
