First, to those of you celebrating, Merry Christmas!
Now my question. My sister called me this evening and suggested that we try to have the families head to WDW next year, just after the New Year holiday :woohoo: . As we are both DVC members, we will be staying at a DVC resort.
My question is, typically how crowded are the resorts after the big holiday rush is over? We would show up the Sunday after New Year's Day and stay for the week. Now, she is a Thanksgiving week veteran :scared1: and knows it won't be THAT bad, but we are hoping for low crowds.
Anyone have any experience that time of year?
TIA!!

I think you will be fine...although some time in Jan. is the marathon but I think that mainly a weekend event but still.....after New Year's....should be a lot calmer. Have fun.

The crowds will mostly by gone by Jan 3rd. The following weekend is a marathon, so that will add some to the crowd level. But overall, January is a slow month.

When Jan 1 is a Friday, crowds will remain huge through Sun, Jan 3, taper off significantly Jan 4 (most actually depart Monday rather than Sun) and then by Tues the crowds will be quite easy to deal with. The marathon will be Jan 9 (half) and 10 (full) with participants mostly coming in Thursday and Friday. But the marathon really does not mean any larger crowds in the parks.
