Hi :)

I am leaving tomorrow morning (23rd) for my week long trip for DL/DCA. I signed up for touringplans a few months ago and they say that the crowd levels have dropped to a 5/10 for the week and 6/10 for the coming weekend (Aug 27/28).

I am now questioning their stats as it seems way low. How are the crowds today (22nd)? Is touringplans way off or close? I guess in comparison to the last 2 weeks do you feel crowd levels have dropped off at the parks? They did have it at 9's and 10's out of 10.

I have to be at the airport by 4am pst so I hope someone see's this post before I head for bed tonight lol

Thanks!! Either way I am so freaking excited!!!

I didn't go today, but I wonder if touringplans took the Southern California APs into account. We can all go now. I don't know how that will effect things, but based on the reports I've seen, it seems that touringplans is not always that accurate on predicting crowds.

Either way, I'm sure you'll have a great trip!

Hi :) Thank you.

Yeah I started to wonder about that as well. What struck me as well is they still have "get a Space Mtn FP" first, when if you are starting in Tomorrowland at rope drop, ST is what most people are getting FP's for first now. Plus, their maps are showing up as broken links which does not help with building confidence that the site is being looked after and updated lol.

I also think that sites like that are relying on past events and if something new comes along they will have to load THAT data into their "program" for a little while before it makes an impact on their touring plans. So, yes, with AP'ers now un-blocked, there is no data to help with their theory of crowd levels.

Still found it helpful though :) And I am feeling ready to rock DL anyways with all the informative and truly helpful information on this website! :woohoo:

Yeah, I haven't found their crowd level predictors to be very accurate. I think because they began as a WDW company and don't have as much data on DL. I take their information with a big grain of salt. I don't think they have the Annual Passholder situation incorporated into their data at all. And they don't adjust for events, such as the opening day of Little Mermaid and Star Tours.

Anyway, I think you will have a good time since you already know more than the average tourist. Have fun! :goodvibes

I agree ArchOwl and I will have a great time no matter what :) My only concern now is being far too excited to sleep before my 4am taxi ride to the airport!!! LOL But I will survive hehe STARBUCKS to the rescue! :rotfl:

So exciting! I always like getting up super early and way too tired when I go on fun trips like this. At least you don't have to wait for an afternoon flight. Have a great time! I know you will.

So exciting! Let us know how things went on your trip, we love hearing about the Parks!

The thread above was from Sunday and it did seem as though the parks have been busy since the APs were unblocked, but mainly in the afternoon and evening. So the best advice, be at Disneyland early! Of course, that is good advice no matter what time of the year you are going.

And also, yay for Starbucks!

My sister is there right now. (Just got off Dumbo, to be more specific. :)) She was pleasantly surprised at the crowds -- lower than what she was expecting. She has kept me updated throughout the day. She hasn't waited in a line longer than 20 minutes -- with or without FP. Longest standby times she has seen were Splash at 80 minutes this afternoon (she waited 12 min. with FP) and Indy standby at 55 minutes.

Hey!! I was just checking the thread before I try and sleep and saw this post as I was logging off lol. Thanks so much for the info! That is good to hear and seeing that both splash and indy are single rider as well I am good to go hehe. I really appreciate the time you all take to answer my question(s).

Thanks again and I will post my trip next week sometime :)

DISNEYLAND HERE I COME! WOOT! :yay:

We were there yesterday (8/22). We arrived at DL at 9 am and the crowds were very reasonable. We did Peter Pan, Dumbo, Alice, Buzz, Pirates and HM with little to no wait before 11 am.

We then headed to DCA and foudn the wait for LM to be about 30 minutes. The worst line was about 15 mintues to get through bag check from DTD at about 12:30. There was no line when we exited at the Harbor side a few minute later. -- Suzanne

My husband and I were at the Disney Resorts from August 26 thru August 31. I would estimate the crowds at half that we usually see at this time of year; and, we go every year! We wallked onto all the major rides. The only long lines were Toy Story Mania (25 minutes) and Peter Pan (15 minutes). It was a fabulous time. I'm assuming the Recession, Depression, or Stagnation (whatever the government calls it) is the reason for the lower attendance.

Just got back and also was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was. We were there August 23-31 and avoided Saturdays, but otherwise other than Friday night, we could walk on the rides, especially this week. So wonderful! AP's were sticking to Star Tours but walk ons on almost everything else. Space Mountain 10-15 minutes! Had such a great time. Loved it!

Also loved being one of the last 10 people in the park one night. You all should try it one time. We shopped until all the shops closed and then just stood on main street and looked at the empty street. Magical.

Went on ST 8 times and only got Darth Vader once and NEVER got Coruscant. Ah well. We're going to WDW in December so hopefully we'll have better luck.
