Is anyone in the world right now? We arrive on Friday and I would love to know how crowds are. Are there still low summer crowds?

My friend in the parks right now says crowds have been heavy.

I was just at DHS, seems a little crowded. Especially GMR since it is closing soon.

Been here since August 5th - very crowded (long wait times) and early closing (MK at 10pm) means huge crowds leaving the park at the same time. We always come this week - it was much less crowded last August.

I'm hoping everyone is there this week or last and next week will be less busy. Schools are starting earlier each year which pushes a lot of families into early August.
We have been the third and fourth weeks of August and the crowds typically start to lessen.
Hopefully people who usually go later in August are there now or just leaving explaining the crowds.

We are here now and honestly we don't think it's as bad as people said it was. We've been to MK, Epcot and DHS. We've used our FP and planned and watched times. We've never waited more than 30 minutes. Did GMT, TofT and RnRC at DHS, TT twice, Soarin and Frozen plus Disney Visa meet and greet at Epcot. At MK we've done all the mountains 2-3 times, Jungle cruise, HM, teacups, PP, Dumbo, Magic Carpets, POTC, Winnie, Ariel, Seven Dwarf mine (5 times at EMM). Arrived Sunday in parks at 5pm. Yes we are tired but rest, it just my 20 year old son and I.

Yes there are those who stop in middle of path but we haven't encountered any rude people or grumpy CM as others describe. A CM gave us 2 paper FP for up to 5 people on each for MK. Said to pay it forward. We did BTMRR with a family and then Splash when line was 90 minutes saw little girl, mom and grandpa getting in line. They joined our family for second FP and the girl was precious- first trip and first day rode in front of log.

Tomorrow is AK and we have FP for Navi and then FOP on Friday. We aren't running to Pandora.

Not there but the wait times on the App are making me nervous.

Will also be there this weekend and my friend has been there this week. She said crowds look heavy and the usual rides still have long wait times but if you've been to WDW before, you will know ways to avoid the long waits etc. She told me if you have your FP and your get to the parks early, which we always do, you will have a blast. And eat at off times. We always go in the summer and February since that's when my kids are out and it's always crowded. We still have a great time. Pack your patience and you'll be fine!!

I was there over the weekend and thought it was really crowded. 60 minute wait for living with the land is crazy to me.

Keep in mind some resident APs had their blackouts lifted early for this week.

How was the weather outside? A thunderstorm changes everything

We were at EPCOT Monday. We got there at 4. We did Soarin, Living with the Land, Test Track and Spaceship Earth. Land and SE were walk on. We also had dinner at Teppan Edo and walked World Showcase.

Yesterday was our check out day...we went to Magic Kingdom. We did Buzz, 7 Dwarfs, Splash, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Speedway, Dumbo, Goofy rollercoaster, railroad, Carousel of Progress, Philharmagic and Buzz again. We were able to keep getting fastpasses all day. We even fit in a leisurly lunch at Pecos Bills. We got in the park at 9:05 am and left at 3 pm.

The parks weren't low crowds but it certainly wasn't Thanksgiving crowds. Use a good plan. Avoid EPCOT on weekends and avoid MK on Mondays. You will have a good time.

We never saw rain from Friday through Tuesday. No major storms though a bit of lightning and storm clouds passed over.

It was hot and no rain the entire day. As far as I could tell no ride had broken down either. The waits for all the rides were pretty high that day. Spaceship Earth's fast pass line was going back towards the entrance and it was in the middle of the afternoon when that line usually drops down pretty low.

Anyone else reading this and sweating a little (I leave in 9 days)?

I will say I have been different times between mid May and early August and have found it the crowd levels to be relatively arbitrary. For instance my sister and I were in Magic Kingdom on a morning to mid day late last June and everything was walk on or short wait. But two days later it was at least 60 minutes for everything there.

I thought we were crazy for going in late June but with the exception of a couple of days crowds really weren't an issue.

So many factors come into play now I am wondering if the crowd calendars have become arbitrary. This includes blackout dates, extra magic hours, and other features I am learning about by watching this board.

I think the increased crowds had something to do with the blackout dates being lifted (we were there because of that) and it's still summer. But I know kids are starting to go back to school soon so I'm thinking the crowds should lighten up a little. I was also there over a weekend which is usually busier than if you're there over the weekdays.

Agree- you know it's gonna be busy but the crowd calendar apps/sites really aren't as effective as they used to be. You just never know how the day at any of the parks will be.
