Crowds the week before Labor Day?

I was thinking of taking my DS to Disney for his 7th birthday, just me and him. We would be going the week before Labor Day, probably the Monday thru Friday. Am I correct in thinking crowds will be light, because the schools in the south are back in session?

The couple of times we've been there then it hasn't been very crowded. But it has been HOT!

Thats when we are going, so I hope it isn't going to be busy!!!
I don't think Disney would offer free dining during that time if it is usually busy. Right? Hoping....!! :thumbsup2

My DS and I went a couple summers ago (we were there for Hurricane Frances) and the crowds were not bad at all. The only downside about that week is the Parks change there hours to fall schedule meaning they no longer stay open late in the evening except on the weekends. This will guarantee that Disney Quest and DTD will be very busy in the evenings during the week but all in all I think it is a great week to go and I wouldn't hesitate to go during this time again due to the lighter crowds and the fact that it is back to Value Season. Have a Great Vacation and enjoy That Free Dining. I sure wish I could take advantage of it this year! :cool1:

Hi I am not from the USA and was wondering when exactly was the Labor Day Weekend? Thanks

We went around that time of year in 03 and 05(last week of August). We have always had a great time. Luckily in 04 with all the hurricanes, we were at DL in California that summer. We were very fortunate. Many schools are back in session so the crowds are not so bad. However,it is very humid and hot, as you would expect and as someone else said, parks do close earlier than during the rest of the summer, though. I think the fact that you are leaving the friday before Labor Day weekend will help, as I imagine the weekend would be crowded with locals, as well. I think your son would have a great time and what fun it will be to do this right before he goes back to school!! :sunny: Good Luck and have fun planning!!

last year from August 31 - Sept 8th. The 31st was a Wednesday and that day as well as Thurs. and Friday were excellent. We never waited for anything more than 5 minutes (and the free dining was going on at that time as well). Then Saturday and Sunday got a little crazy  and at night is was elbow to elbow (of couse I have never been a peak/holiday times but I don't see how that could get any worse :teeth: ). Then Monday - Thurs were fine again but not as good as our first 3 days. We are going again in August (thanks to FREE dining) and I moved our dates up a week, so we will be there from August 22nd - 29th and hopefully avoid any who are coming for Labor Day weekend and continuing into the week. It is hot :sunny: but I don't mind that since I can always find some way to cool off. :cool2: . Have a great trip! :wave2:
