I was wondering what the crowds were like during the week between Christmas and New Years? Is it high peak since all kids are off from school? Any input from those who have done this would be appreciated.

:)

MOBBED!!!!! We were there Christmas 2001, and it was a zoo!!! Wall to Wall!!! I had to leave MK one day, since it was TOTAL gridlock and I felt claustrophobic, and I'm not claustrophobic!! It's WDW's highest week attendence wise, and the parks, especially MK, have been known to close due to such high capacities. Now, saying that, I'd defintely go again, since MK during the holidays is just so beautiful!!!

The week between XMAS and New Years will be very busy. We were just there this past XMAS (12/18 - 12/28). If possible, I would recommend going some days prior. The three days we spent at WDW at the beginning of trip were great. We used Fastpass and were able to get to most of the rides we wanted to. We didn't push to get to park early, in fact most days we left hotel almost at 10:00. We watched shows if convenient.

We left many of the shows of the time we were in the park after XMAS. (we had 5 days at US/IOA in between).

best advice is use fastpass, especially for the most popular rides. Most times, I sent my husband to get FP while we waited in line or were resting and eating. That way kids didn;t feel the wait as much.

We did this week in 2000. It was the busiest I have ever seen it. We can only go during school vacations so we are used to seeing crowds. This was in a league of it's own, in my opinion. On three consecutive days, they had record attendance at all of the parks.

We avoided the parks on New Years Eve.

Christmas Week, you get the following:

1. Walk down a street at MK at noon and you are elbow to elbow with everyone else; if anyone stops to chat, there is a chain reaction bringing 200 people to a halt.

2. People who go Presidents' Week, summer, or Thanksgiving very often complain about how huge and uncomfortable the crowds are then. Then they go at Christmas and dream about the extremely light crowds they saw during those other weeks.

3. Popular rides get sustained (all day, all night) two hour and longer lines; Test Track goes to over 3. The lamest attraction in MK is Swiss Family Treehouse and it is not worth waiting in any line for -- it gets an hour line much of the day.

4. People forget or refuse to make, or don't know that you can make, PS's for dinner. Those people will starve during Christmas Week. Even the counter service places get full and sometimes have 30 minute lines.

5. MK on any given day and other parks on New Years Eve can and do fill to capacity. If you are inside MK or Epcot on New Years Eve always allow 5 minutes for every 50 feet you desire to travel.

6. If you are lucky enough to be able to see over or around other people, the Christmas decorations and events are a sight to behold.

Good training for Christmas Week is to invite a dozen friends over to your house for dinner and then serve it in a closed coat closet.

drusba - Thanks for the good laugh!!! It is all true!!! My favorite one would be Number 2. That would be me!!!!

Hehe, that is one of the funniest posts I have seen in a while!
