Crowds Right Now (Crazy Neighbor)

Ok, I have a crazy neighbor who is trying to convince me that crowds at the Disney parks are so bad right now that they are having to close the gates every day by 11 AM. I told her this does happen at very busy times like the week of Christmas/New Years for example. She still says she heard they are very crowded now. Isn't this month one of the slowest times to go with the exeption of MLK weekend??? She is nuts right???

I was just at the MK a couple days ago and the crowd was larger than this time last year, but still relatively small. We walked right on SM, HM, and several other rides. Our longest wait was 15 mins for JC. In fact the waits were so short the fast pass machines weren't in use.

We were at MK and Epcot on Friday - not crowded at all, never waited more than 5-10 min. Although Saturday was another story, MGM EE was not too bad (it was very cold) but Sat eve at MK was crowded, long lines and fast passes closed (mostly). I figured the increase in crowd size was directly related to the Sun am marathon.

Not only is it not busy, it's one of the slowest times at WDW.

This is just a theory, but I do know that Fox News did live remote reports from Epcot all day Saturday. They were talking about how tourism, and especially theme park attendance, was at it's highest level since 9/11. They made specific references to large Disney crowds over the Christmas and New Year's holidays and did mention that the gates were closed early on both days since the park had reached capacity. So, your neighbor may have heard one of those reports and mistakenly thought it meant every day. Just a guess.
