Crowds right after NYE?

Just curious for those who have been in the past or just arrived back home, how are the crowds right after NYE? We are planning to head back in Jan '06, but not sure with the new marathon event split how our plans will turn out. Our Jan trip last year was very nice and not crowded at all but we arrived a little later than New Year's Day.

One of our ideas is to arrive in WDW on 1/1/06 and stay until the 9-10th.

Any info on the crowds at that time?

That is a great time. You will find that New Years Day is still busy (but not a mad house like the weeks leading up to it). Jan 2 is a little less and by Jan 3 it becomes a virtual ghost town. It gets busy around the marathon, but most people that are there for the marathon check in the day before and check out the day after...and spend sometime in the park but it is not usually a significant hike in attendance
