Crowds right after NYE?

Running buddy and I looking forward to Dis Marathon weekend of 1/7/17. Now just pondering whether to take the family and make it a vacation. New Years Eve is on Saturday with the marathon the following weekend. I know Dis is crazy, off the charts busy between Christmas and NY so avoiding that. Any ideas on how crowded it will be the Monday (1/2/17) on that week running up to Marathon weekend? Thanks.

It depends on when the majority of schools go back into session.

In recent years, WDW parks have been very busy for (at least the first half of) the first week of the new year.
And, they remain busy for the marathon.

A lower-crowd time to go is the week after the marathon.
I know that means the kids would miss school then...
and THAT is one of the main reasons the crowds are lower.
