Crowds right after New Years Day?

Well I'm back! Great trip but the crowds are getting too busy in late October and the kids are getting older so can't take them out of school as much. So what do I do right after I get back? Start planning the next trip in two years!!! So experts, let's jump into the future: January 2007. I know New Years day is chaos. But how soon do the crowds drop? In 2007 NewYears is on a Monday. We don't go back to school until the 9th. What do you think? Time to squeeze in five days of crowd-free Disney bliss?

We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge and a five nights at the Beach Club Villas. Rentend points for a Studio. Boy was that convenient! Anyone have questions please let me know. The big surprises:

Just how good Artist Point was
Just how good the sticky toffee pudding at the Rose and Crown was
Just how empty Halloween at Magic Kingdom got after 9:30 PM
Just how much fun Mission Space was--wow.
Just how cool Wishes was
Just how wonderful Philharmagic was
Just how popular Disney in October has become!

I'm glad that ya'll had so much fun!!! As far as disney after New Year's. We were down there for New Years's 2002 and the parks were empty after New Year's Day (it was almost scary quiet!)!!

Oh that's good to hear! Has that changed in the last couple of years? The bellman said that the parks empty after New Years but he also said it depened on when New Years actually falls during the week. Will it drop right after New Years or do I have to wait until the Sunday following?

I'm really on a fact finding mission here. Okay okay, I admit that I'm also dealing with the Post Disney trip issue! Sure it's a form of withdrawal but I'm doing good with it and let's face it, there are far worse addictions out there!

I don't know our school schedule, but if New Years Day is a Monday, I would bet a lot of schools would go back Tuesday, Jan 2. That would mean they would either leave Jan. 1 to go home (my best guess), or stay another day at the most. I think the majority want to be there for Christmas and New Years Eve.

He he he, I smell opportunity! I've never been down there in January so I'm not sure about the weather. Our school schedule is strange though, we go back to school August first but have more time off during the year. Makes it nice when trying to beat the holiday rush.

New Year's Day is on a Saturday. The parks may stay a little more crowded on Sunday but it will start to clear out. Come Monday you should be fine. This is only a guess from when I was there. EVERYONE leaves pretty quickly after New Years. It is a really enjoyable time...just make sure you have a jacket!
