Hi All, It is supposed to rain for the next 5 days. Any predictions on the crowds? I am thinking smaller due to weather and probably not doing WOC and fantasmic. I know we are the beginning of Xmas break, that will factor in.

Any ideas?? thanks

I think the rain will cut down on attendance. By how much? I'm not sure. Perhaps those thinking of going on a whim but, probably not the families that are stuck with an already planned vacation.

People visiting might also leave earlier after being wet for a few hours.

I think you can definitely count on lower attendance than what would have otherwise taken place if it weren't going to rain. Some estimate that as much as 70% of Disneyland's attendance is locals and those are the individuals that are more likely to cancel a trip due to bad weather. The people who are coming from out of state aren't likely to cancel their trips, but if they really do make up only a third of the attendance then that leads me to think crowds will be considerable smaller. And many of those who do attend will likely spend fewer hours in the park per day.

Well, we will be there starting on this Sunday with a 6 day hopper pass in hand; come rain or shine.

So if it is not crowded, all the better. If it is, then there will be alot of us wet, but having fun at DL anyway. :cool1:

We are off to California from NY 12/27...rain, sleet or snow we will be coming....the out of towners will still come....we are lugging 3 kids across the country to see Disneyland....we usually travel to Disneyworld....we went to DisneyWorld during Tropical Storm Faye...it was hard with sideway rain and heavy winds....but we still had a blast.... (and the crowds there were down..we walked on every ride) have a great time ;)

Accuweather.com is now predicting 3.09 inches of rain for Anaheim. That's quite a bit for southern California.

YUP it rained here in Arizona yesterday too, and it was actually foggy! I am assuming this is coming from Cali....

We are currently flying somewhere over Iowa headed for DL for the next 4 days. Not sure what to think of the weather. Yes, it will lower the crowds, but when we drop so much $$$ on an extended trip (that goes well beyond DL), it kind of bums me out that we will have to spend it in ponchos. And since we are going to HOJO, the kids were excited to spend time in the pool. Oh well. Better than the snow I had to shovel yesterday!!!

Maybe we'll see you there. We're starting our drive down from the Bay area around 2 and staying at the HoJo. We considered canceling due to the weather, but decided we'd feel regret for not seeing DL at Xmas.

Can't wait to see what happens crowd wise to you folks going this weekend..we leave for Cali on the 25th and if locals don't go this week next week may end up being even more crowded than it usually is after Christmas..Yikes but we do currently have one rainy day in our forecast for our trip so one day where we can get on the rides faster and one day where I can shoot some beautiful after the rain photos...

We will be there with two red heads, all in our pale white Wisconsin glory in a kids suite! Knowing us, we will still head to the pool when we get there :) Have a great vacation and maybe our paths will cross!

We're flying in from New Zealand tonight so there's no way we're backing out because of bad weather! Going to be in the parks Mon-Wed, can't wait!
:banana::cool1::banana:

Hope you have a great trip guys!

I'm going to have to put the pressure on our relatives who live in So Cal to continue with our plans for our one day trip. I think the rain will make them second guess going since everyone will be out visiting for Christmas and our daytrip to DLR is just one activity during the week rather than the visit. I think a lot of day visitors will be second guessing a trip in the rain.

Also, on the other side of the family, I just found out that my DS who teaches in Orange County won't be out on vacation until December 23rd. If several of the So Cal districts are out the two weeks AFTER Christmas instead of Dec 18 - Jan 2, that should help with crowds during next week at least a tiny bit.

I'm still mentally preparing myself for crowds, though. Just in case. Then I'll be pleasantly surprised if the parks aren't completely wall-to-wall.

We're an OC school and got out today. I'm expecting the normal madness, but may be wrong.

I think it will still be busy, but the rain will reduce crowds a bit. As I always say, an earthquake (minor) would be even better ;) That one really clears the parks, and I like to think DL is one of the safest places in Southern California to be in an earthquake...

All the Southern California Discount AP's are blacked out this week, so the old 70% of the crowd being locals thing will not really aply this week. Still lots of locals but not as many as non-black-out weeks.

People plan their holiday breaks, local or not. I know we have zero flexability in our plans. We will be in DL/DCA Monday and Tuesday, come what may.

We are not locals anymore, but even if we were the only other choice would be not to go. I have too much extended family in the area to switch days.

What I do think will happen is people will leave early. So we are planning a long afternoon break to dry out and change clothes.

I think this probably hit the nail on the head. As die hard as my DH and I are, if our DDs start to complain or my DMIL, DFIL, DSIL, DBIL, or DNs start to complain, I think people will start to throw in the towel by dinnertime. I'm planning on bringing two cars in the hopes some of us will stay through park closing, but Accuweather is currently predicting drenching rain on Tuesday night. :scared1:

On a positive note, when I discovered two days ago that both girls had outgrown their rain jackets and rain boots, I checked Gymboree and they had the cutest rain outfits on sale for 50% off! I even got both girls the matching umbrellas. At $7, if they get lost or broken while at the park, it's not a big deal.

Very light crowds today. Well, it was quite wet as well! I think I saw at the most 25 minute waits, but when we arrived early this AM, we walked on every ride. Unfortunately, no Fantasmic tonight. That was a bit of a bummer as we had planned on the Fantasmic Dessert tonight :( One sad, and soaking wet daughter!!!

We arrive tomorrow afternoon for four days of wet and wild fun. It's my sister's first DLR visit and since she is in from Ohio just for this, there is no changing dates. We have waterproofed the fleeces and boots, purchased ponchos and hand warmers and are just gonna go with the flow. It's gonna be a trip to remember, that's for sure!

We were in dl today. Light rain all day. Lines lighter than usual for this time of year, but still lines. 15 min for pirates, 30 min for mansion, 25 min buzz, 45 indy, 30+ pan. Hope it is better tomorrow. Still loads of fun!
