Hi. Being that a lot of Florida and some North Eastern colleges had spring break last week, how busy were the parks and crowds?

Thinking of going next year at this time since also my dd's Spring Break and she will be turning 21. If we book our home resort at SSR she and a friend or two can also walk to DTD at night but we dont want the parks too crowded. We have been going last week of August or September while she is in school and its been a very long time since we went in March.

Thank you.

The first week of March is pretty much the last uncrowded week before SB kicks in nationwide. I don't agree that "a lot of Florida" had SB this past week--I think your information is suspect on that point.

Wasn't too bad. All I know is was full of people from louisianna..my goodness lol. it weren't for people from there, wdw would have been empty :)

Crowds weren't bad at all. MK was the busiest on Mardi Gras, but also had gorgeous weather. The park still cleared out in the evening and we were able to ride a lot with very short waits during the parade and fireworks.

I don't think Northeastern Colleges (or colleges in general) are all that impactful. WDW has never been a huge destination for college students the way Mexico, Daytona Beach, South Padre Island, etc. have been. Mardi Gras seems to have more of an impact.

I saw mention on another thread of some colleges maybe having breaks last week, but I don't know where they were from. My daughter teaches college in Nebraska at a private college, and also takes grad classes at Univ of Nebraska...both of those school are later in the month for break (one is the 3rd week, the other is the last week) She's a coach for a college speech team...they schedule around most colleges' breaks so it's usually the last 2 weeks the meets are being scheduled around so I would guess that's an indication most colleges are having breaks in the 2nd half of the month instead of the first 1/2. We are over by Clearwater Beach...a very popular college Spring Break destination...and though the crowds are increasing, most do not look like college aged people yet.

Spring break in Hillsborough County (Tampa) is this upcoming week (march 10-14) But other counties around Tampa are the 3rd week of March.

Orlando area & Miami area are both the last week of March.

Thank you all. So I will keep this as an option. We were on a cruise and came back yesterday. South Carolina, FSU, another Florida University and Florida International made up most of the passengers. My dd goes to school in Pennsylvania and they had Spring Break too.

I work in a private New York college and the kids haven't started their break either.

My ds is in 10th grade in a private independent school and always has off last two weeks of March.

Thanks all. This will certainly now be an option. I appreciate it very much.

I was there thru the 3rd and I thought it was QUITE crowded--August level crowds. Yes, the State of Louisiana was there. LOL! MK and AK were rather miserable. Values and moderates were completely booked.

Thank you. So you were there the week after Presidents Week? I guess I am asking about the week after you were there beginning on March 3. I wonder why your week was so different?
