We've got a villa booked at Old Key West (we're DVC members). Our checkin date is 12/26, checking out on 12/31. This was to be a trip with DW and I plus our two grandaughters. But we're having second thoughts, because we're getting worried about the crowds.

So what are the crowds like just after Christmas? We'll probably mostly go to MK (the kids will be 9 and 6). How long are the lines at the big attractions, like the Mountains, that week? If these rides have 2 hour lines, and FPs are gone early, the trip will probably be a bust. In that case I'd sooner not go.

We haven't bought air yet, there's no penalty for cancelling our ressies, and we haven't told the kids yet either. So we can easily just call this off. Should we?

We went at that time in 2001 and it was very crowded. I think this is the busiest time of the year at Dinsey. We went early in the day and beat a lot of the crowds but when we went to leave mid day for a break, we were told the parks were full and we could not be guaranteed re-entry. We ended up staying in the parks and just leaving earlier in the evening. MK does try to compensate for crowds by longer operation hours though. Good luck with your decision, the decorations sure are beautiful that time of year, hard choice!

Expect things to be packed at the parks pretty much until after shortly after Jan 1.

The week between Xmas and New Year's is historically one of the busiest weeks of the year.

The largest crowds of the year are from 12/26 to 1/1 and all of the major attractions will have very long waits.

It is a very busy time of year but also beautifully decorated. Try to go the week before xmas if possible. Happy planning!

Well, the heck with it then. We've never gone during peak times because I don't think we'd handle the crowds that well. If this is the peakest of the peaks, I think we'll take a pass. I know the kids wouldn't be able to handle the waits. Good thing we haven't told them about it!

Oh, we'll go. That's the beauty of DVC; there's always another trip around the corner.
