Thinking Of Going Jan 1 Thru Jan 4 - How Are The Crowds?

The way the calendar is this year it will be busy on the 1 and the 2. Jan 1 is a Sunday and the legal holiday falls on the 2nd, so most people are not due back to work and school till the 3rd. We head home on the 2nd. I would expect that many people will stay the extra day. As you get to the 3 and 4th the crowds should be much lighter. I would expect the parks to be packed on the 1st.

We went during this time last year. It was kinda crowded, but not horrible. Even when it was crowded it wasn't so bad cause it wasn't horribly hot like it is in the summer.

FYI--schools in my area will be out for Xmas break until the 10th. I know a few people that already have plans to go. Our break is from Dec 23 - Jan 10th. A lot of people in Atlanta will drive down--

We were there Jan 2 - Jan 9 this year. We expected minimal crowds but we were very surprised to find that not to be so. Each day we kept expecting the crowds to diminish but they never did. There were waits for most everything...not summertime waits but much more than we had expected.

We were there Jan 4-9 this year. There were no crowds at all. Almost everything was a walk-on. Fantasyland was probably the most crowded, and we got fastpasses for a couple of the rides like Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh, but their stand-by waits weren't long at all. Plus, Fantasyland is always the busiest.

This year, most of the schools started back on Monday, Jan 3. Our schools didn't start back until Jan 10. For 2006, I'm wondering when the schools will start back because Monday is the 2nd.

You don't need to worry about crowds in January, but you do need to worry about the weather. We were very lucky with temps in the 80's. But the week before we were there, and the week after we were there the weather was cold and rainy.
