Crowds in September

Usually the first two weeks of September have about the lowest crowds of the year. That doesn't mean the place is empty and everything is a walk-on, though. Not even close. We are going first week of September this year and I'm hoping for good crowd levels.
We have been 3rd week of September twice, and were very happy with the crowd levels. And with the free dining.:)

We were there 9-7 to 9-18 and it was empty due to Irma but I have been in September before that and it was a little less crowded than the week after Thanksgiving but very manageable.

We were there just after Irma last year, 9/15-9/23, and the parks were slammed. I figured that a lot of people postponed their trips due to the storm.

In 2016, we were there for Matthew. I am done going to WDW in the fall for a while.

The 15th was walk on everything. The 16th and 17th were slammed for sure! The week before though was barren.

I got in late on the 15th so IDK.

The only park that was not crowded that week was HS. I never saw the Fantasmic stadium as empty as it was on 9/21.

I would try to plan a mid day break to go back to your resort and swim, its hot and cooling off and refreshing before going back to the parks will make a world of difference, I learned years ago to do this and now its the only way we do our Disney Vacations. We take atleast 2-3 hours out of each day to swim and then go back

Sept is just as Hot as Aug, another tip about the heat is stay hydrated, all the CS places and kiosks that have access to water will give you free cups of ice water if you ask.

You will find the lowest crowds of the year in early Sept.

All schools are back in session after Labor Day. There is no true slow time anymore like it used to be. You will not waltz around and empty park and go on every ride with no wait time. But it will be as slow as it gets. Only down side is the weather. It will be hot. It will be hurricane season.

Yes the lowest crowds of the year will be during the first two weeks of September. Now keep in mind lowest crowds doesn't mean you will get to walk directly on to a bunch of rides. I will say last year that was the case the day before the hurricane hit

September is getting busier and busier, we have gone the past 5 years.. There has been a shift of June-Aug crowds to Sept to Oct. Look at room discounts and even now there is a summer special. Food and wine starts now end of Aug and also the MNNSSHP.. Schools start in some states mid Sept. Orlando in general has seen huge increases in foreign visitors and they come starting september. We live overseas and our kids start school mid september. Granted it's not christmas or spring break but do not expect empty parks and shorter lines. Headliners are 60 min as peak day times. Aladdin etc.. 20 to 30 miinutes at times. A lot has to do with FP+ before these were walk-ons...

Also over the years the FD offers are getting less and more restricted... so that says a lot.. they no longer need to fill rooms..

It's also hotter than the sun and hurricane... we have to come at this times as this is when we have school.

We were there right before the hurricane came and left the last day MCO was open.. We stayed at BC and I have pictures at 12pm over by France with a hand full of people in the background!!! was crazy... empty.. calm before the storm. where a few days before was packed. but this is a one off.. dont expect this again unless another hurricane comes.

I assume you are talking before Labor Day. If so, it is still fairly busy then. It is after Labor Day when the crowds drop

We were there before and after Labor Day last year, and we didn't see any kind of drop. We've also been the second and third weeks of September in year's past. September is definitely better than peak times, but the crowd levels aren't noticeably different enough for me to put up with the heat and rain. JMHO.

I hear you about the heat. Five out of our six trips have been the last week of September. 2011 was crazy hot, like 93 to 94 with 95% humidity, every day. We like the hot weather though as long as it’s not ridiculous like that year. Most the time it has been 87 to 90° and not all that much rain. I would like to try some other off peak seasons but our schedules just don’t permit it anymore, or September. :(

I would do the week of Labor Day(after Labor Day). Once LD is over, it really is very comfortable crowd-wise. September used to be our go-to month every year, and we went that time year before last. LD and right before was super busy, but once the holiday was over, it slowed down considerably. If you're ok with the searing heat, then the crowds will be fine.

Those weeks are some of the best of the year! (week after labor day) I would go then if I could (can't anymore due to schedules). If it's your first time, just keep in mind that even in the slow periods it will feel like the parks are pretty full. Slow times are kinds a thing of the past until another recession or major economic downturn hits.

Thank you honestly when I was reading come of the calendars I was thinking the low crowds was going to mean that it wasn't all the full. I'm glad I ask yall lol I would have been in a rude awakening

I honestly was just thinking about crowds not about heat :) I guess I have another factor to think about. Goodness I don't see how yall can plan so many trips there is so much to it. lol sometimes it gets overwhelming
