Crowds in September?

We are in the process of booking our holiday and will possibly be in Anaheim from the 20th September til 26th September. Is this a good time to go crowds wise?

Generally late Sept. is a pretty good time -- kids are back in school, people aren't on vacation, and the weather is ok (can be mild, can be hot depending on the winds). I'd say you picked a good time.

Thanks for your reply. When is the labor day weekend? Is that at the beginning of September? Also I've heard there's a convention of some sort in September. Anyone know when that is?

Will any of the rides be closed in September? I've heard the haunted mansion is closed usually during this time. Any idea when it re-opens?

Also when do the halloween decorations go up? Is that usually in the beginning of October?

Yes, that should be a great time - you'll probably find that on Monday-Thursday the parks will be very quiet with very short lines!

Yes, Haunted Mansion will be down for the first part of your visit, but if Disneyland follows their pattern of the last several years, then HalloweenTime will start on the 25th, and Haunted Mansion Holiday will open that day.

There will probably be some other attractions closed as well - that IS the off-season, when Disneyland and DCA start on their refurbishment schedule. Usually there's not more than 1-3 down in each park at any given time, though.

Labor Day weekend is September 4-7.

I hope that's not too big of a conference. We are planning our first trip to Disneyland for those exact dates, hoping to avoid huge crowds.

I've been an AP holder for nearly 20 years - and right after school goes back in but before the Halloween events start is about as lean as it gets for crowds. 1 caveat: the free birthday entry is increasing the crowds this year - it was crowded last Saturday, normally not a very busy time of year ( they do also have a 2-fer deal right now for locals - buy 1 day at 1 park, get a 2nd at the other for free).

Friday nights and Sundays are busy year-round because we have so many AP holders these days.

Enjoy your trip! Get there when the ropes drop for the shortest lines.

We're thinking of going to the parks on Monday & Tuesday, spending Wednesday & Thursday in LA, and then coming back to do the parks again on Friday & Saturday. I really want to see the fireworks and fantasmic show and they only run on Fridays & Saturdays in September. Is that right?
