Crowds in May ? all rooms booked

Just out of curiousity, I went to the Disneyworld website reservations to look at the availability of rooms for the time we are going to be there and everything is BOOKED! I tried both with and without the 7/4 deal! Does this mean that despite our economy that Disney is going to be packed at the beginning of May??? I went a few years ago at the end of April and there were very light crowds, so I was hoping for the same this time. I am a little worried now that I know so many resorts (including the BC) are completely booked for the time of our visit!!! What do y'all think?

We are going May 2-9 and I was just checking on the same thing. I was able to find availability in each of the resort categories. I am also afraid that crowds will be larger than normal because of the b4/3f offer.

we are going the 19 to the 26 and we had to do a split stay to get rooms for 7 nights ( 5 day in a stuido 3 days in a 1 beddroom )

Some of my friends are also having a trip this May and staying at POFQ. May all of you have a great time.

We are also going the 1st week of May and it seems that it is going to be busier than usual for some reason. We have gone in the past at this time and it was light crowds, I guess with the 4/3 more people are going. Im also guessing that more people think the crowds will be smaller at this time and are booking. Either way I sure we will have a great trip. Last year we were there the week following Easter (Kids spring break) and talk about crowds..Im sure it wont be that bad this time around

In the past, May has typically not been busy--especially early May. Disney has cut back on staffing. When I was down in January, a CM was explaining that while a resort may not necessarily be full, they may only be booking a certain percentage of rooms based on staffing. Same with dining reservations. If they cut back staff for meals, then they know they can only book so many tables, and therefore have no reservations left once that magic number is reached. Hope this helps. Our family will be back again in May, so I am hoping it is the usual low May crowds that we are used to!

We were originally staying at POFQ, but I upgraded this weekend to WL. I have always wanted to stay there, so we are going to try it.....just hope it is worth the money. I figured I would take advantage of the lower prices because of the b4/3f offer.

We are going in May this year as well! May 6-13!!!! Staying at the CBR!!!!!! This will be our first stay there! We are a group of 6. DH,Me,DD20,DD16 and DS10 and DDBF20. This will be his first trip! Some of our dates overlap. I hope the crowds are light. We went the last week of Apr. 2007 and the crowds were BIG!!!! We stayed at FW cabins, it was quiet there. One night MK closed early to host grads it was very loud at the resort that night!!!! I think it was grad week?

Even though the 4/3 promotion is extremely popular keep in mind that the resorts outside of disneyworld are pressed to find people to occupy them.

We go every May, crowds are generally manageable. When it comes to crowds I always prepare & expect the worst, I find this way I am ready to deal with crowds and pleasantly surprised if they are not around.

I see all these threads about "what do you think the crowds will be like at (fill in date) I wish I had the answer to help in these threads however There is no crystal ball out there that can tell anyone how crowded or uncrowded a park may be on any particular day. Last year touring plans called for 7 & 8 when we went to Disney in May but we found it pretty calm... Sure there are less busier times of the year but I think the only thing you can do is have a smart touring plan and get to the park for rope drop and just enjoy everything you can as best you can regardless if their are crowds or not

You are absolutely right! We were at Disneyland last summer at the end of July. Not only were crowds huge but there was an earthquake (YES a real one!) the day we were there. It was chaos. Despite this fact, we still had a GREAT time! Although the earthquake did wreak havoc on my touring plan!

I'm also a little worried about the crowds. WE are going May 19-26th so I'm sure it will be busy during Memorial Weekend. I do plan on staying away from Magic that weekend. I think we will do Animal and MGM but staying away from Epcot and Magic. I will do DTD over the weekend. It's our first trip there as a family and my hubby's and son's first time ever! I can't wait regardless if it's packed or not. I'm really looking forward to staying at POFQ.

We will be there May 6-13 at the Contemporary. I am hoping that it won't be too crowded as we will have a 3 1/2 year old and a 6 week old.

But it has to be better than when we have gone in July.
