My DDs and I are headed to the world at the end of July for a short trip with Nana and Papa, we are wanting to make this a more relaxing trip since we go back in November. We are staying at the GF and wanted to just take it easy in the morning, my oldest DD and Nana have ressies for the princess tea party princess: one morning, and then we have Anna & Elsa FPs another AM, but other than that we were planning on parks in the PM and pool it and enjoy the GF in the AM since this is our first stay at the GF.

Is this a bad strategy?!?! The last time we did the world in the summer I was a kid, we normally focus our trips on the spring and the fall, but this was a last minute decision to see the Mouse :earboy2: (and I know, I know...it's going to be HOT!!)

With the exception of the one day, all our FPs are later in the day starting about 2ish, I'm now starting to worry we are setting ourselfs up for disaster. We are going back in November (yay W&D half :cheer2:), so this trip we aren't feeling so rushed to do everything.

TIA!!

Why is this a possible disaster? It sounds like it makes pretty good sense and with fp+ you have that luxury a bit. I will say that with your close proximity to mk i would strongly consider going to rope drop, then taking a midday break and going back in the evening.

We went last year July 13-21 and stayed next door to the GF at the Poly(LOVE this area!). Actually we were lucky with the heat...it wasn't unbearable(it rained quite a bit though). As far as crowds were concerned it wasn't bad at all.

If you are (1) okay with crowds and (2) not trying to do everything and (3) tolerant of HOT days, then I don't see how you wouldn't have a great time.

We avoid WDW in July because of the heat, but not the crowds. We just realize we won't be able to do as much, and don't spend our time in long lines. Your fast passes will get you right onto a few rides, and the rest of the time can be really fun walking around, watching parades, standing in some (hopefully) short SB lines, taking a fun break midday, etc. The park itself is enchanting. Just don't dwell on the crowds, go with the flow, and look forward to your next visit.

Most important is a positive attitude. You'll probably find you have the experience you expect to have :)

July is hot and crowded I have never been but have in June and couldn't imagine it any hotter or crowded. :faint: having said that, I think your plan is perfect and enjoying the gf with your family is totally the way to go. I have found the pool to be rather quiet around 'dinner' time. We eat dinner early then head over to the pool as everyone else seems to be getting out and getting ready for dinner. Just a tip, and enjoy your trip! :wizard:

Thanks all! Glad I seem to be on the right track :) I guess I was just more concerned about crowds, but it sounds like they won't be too bad...that's why I love this board...always great advice from fellow Disney fans :earboy2:

Mrs Green...I've never considered rope drop, but you're right, being so close this may be a great trip to give it a go! pixiedust:

We are doing a similar trip in June. I haven't been during the summer months in a long time so I am a little scared. We are going back in September for our big trip this year.

We set up our FP+ for mid morning and then we plan to spend the afternoons at the pool.

It is actually kind of nice to plan with no pressure to get stuff done. We have no plans to see fireworks, etc. We are trying to keep ourselves out of the crowds as much as possible and just relax. We will see how that goes!

Your plan sounds great especially staying at the GF!
