Crowds in late August?

Hello all! This year I am celebrating my 30th birthday at Disneyland. We are going August 25 - 27th. I see on crowd calendars that these days are fairly busy. I assumed I may be lucking out since some schools start in mid-late August now, but I suppose that isn't impacting it much.

Can anyone confirm from personal experience if it's really crowded during around these dates?

I'm guessing with it being the last week or two of the diamond celebration it's going to be packed. But I'm no expert !!

Also the lower level APs become unblocked that week, and the first few days afterwards are typically crowded. With the 60th ending, I think many will want to ride HSM and see the night time shows for the last time after being blocked for 2 months or more and also maybe didn't get a chance to see the new Frozen show before they were blocked.

Our experience has always been that late August is awesomely uncrowded. During the week at least.

This year though I expect DL to fill up much more in the afternoon/evening with folks making it in for PTN and the fireworks before they go away (sobs.)

Personally I still expect lower morning/early afternoon crowds since the kids are indeed in school and summer vacationers have already vacationed. We'll see :)

Thanks all! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it won't be too bad. I've been during the week of Christmas a few years back and it was an absolute nightmare (aside from the fact that it was Disneyland). We don't have kids and I'm not too interested in the Frozen show, so maybe that will be a nice time to hop on a popular ride line (or two).

We are going right behind you! We arrive on the 28th! We are also worried about crowds - I didn't figure in Diamond ending, only that school was starting... hoping it isn't too crazy! Hope you have a great time!

Happy birthday!! We'll be there at the same time as you, Aug 24-29. I'm also hoping for it not to be too bad. Fingers crossed!! Have a great trip!

We've been there that week a couple of times and it's never been bad. The only question is how will the ending of the 60th affect it. Good luck!!

Hi all,
DH and I will be there the 25th -28th.
This was a spur of the moment trip I had no idea it was the last week for the 50th pixiedust:
But look on the bright side, everything will be on clearance and all new stuff will fill those empty spaces. :dancer:

I am totally stressed at the announcement of PTN ending. I think that is going to wreak havoc on our August 21st week of visiting. (i knew the blackouts were lifted that week and CA kids weren't in school till the following week - and I was already worried about that.) I'm a worrier, can you tell?

A LOT of schools in Utah and Arizona are returning to school this first 2 weeks of August, so by the end of August, the summer tourism crowds are likely to be much lower. At the same time, summer blackouts for So Cal AP holders tend to ease up, so what you'll likely see is lower crowds in the mornings and through early afternoon. Then I would expect about 4pm, things start to get busier as all of the locals have left work early to spend the evening at Disneyland and see the PTN one last time before it ends.

Given this, I think that you should consider making PTN a priority on your first evening there (Thurs 8/25). Then you'll get 2 more evenings to see it as well just in case you want to "do this again." :-)

Our last trip was during this time and it was great! The end of the 60th will likely bring more crowds, but in general, that time is really not bad at all
