Crowds in July vs. June

We were scheduled, paid up, and all set to go to WDW for Christmas this year. Unfortunately, my DD had some athletic responsibilities and then my dad had a devastating heart attack 2 weeks ago and now has to have a high risk open heart surgery this week, so we made the rough decision to cancel. My wonderful DH rescheduled for July. We are used to going in early June and know of the crowds, which are bearable, but we have never been in July. I was wondering if someone could tell me how bad the crowds are in July (we are going July 8-15). Are they worse than June? It will be value season, so I'm thinking maybe crowds will be less than June. Thanks for any help or suggestions!

Hope your dad is recovering nicely. July is crowded but I've always had a good time when I went in July. Here are my tips.

1. Avoid whatever park is hosting its emh. This will probably be the most crowded.

2. Plan your must see attractions and do those first. Take advantage of FP. remember that on some of the newer attractions (Soarin' at Epcot and Expedition Everest at AK,) the FPs go quickly.

3. Do not, under any circumstances Try to do every single thing. July is going to be hot. We do a few major attractions early in the morning, go back to our resort during the heat of the day to swim and relax. Then we hit the parks late in the day. In july the parks will be open late, some times until midnight.

4. If you are making ADR's, try eating at off hours when the masses aren't trying to eat. Could you do an early (4pm) dinner or make your biggest meal of the day a late lunch?

Last but not least, enjoy the non attraction things to see and do. After a long wait in line for a major attraction, we always take a break and enjoy a less sought after one (for ex, the hall of presidents in MK) as a way to break up the waiting.

Any time you go to Disney is a great time.

Well, it's going to be hot, but the good news, July crowds in the week after the Fourth should be a lot less than Christmas. If you're going to go in July, going right after the Fourth crowds leave is the best time, IMHO. We did that last year and it went very, very well. The standard advice: Get to the parks as early as you can -- when we walked into Fantasyland at 9:10 a.m., even in July, we walked on to everything. Use Fastpass as much as you can. Try to be out of the parks by 1 p.m., or be having lunch then, and then leave, and definitely enjoy your resort pool.

Also remember that so many attractions are inside, there will be plenty of opportunities to cool off. Mickey's Philharmagic was our favorite break. Have a great time!

We have always found that the crowds in July are always worse than they are in Early June. Since you know how the parks are in June, just add a few more people and maybe a degree or two and you have early July.
