Crowds in February

I just booked a mini-vacation for DD's birthday, Feb. 16-20, 2006, which includes Presidents' weekend. What can we expect in terms of the weather and crowds at that time? It will be our first February trip.

Preisdent's Day wekend will be VERY crowded. Not July 4th crowded or Christmas crowded, but the days you will be there will be quite busy.

As for the weather, tune in right before you leave. It could be 80 during the day, or it could be near freezing when you wake up. Or both could happen in the four days. Such is winter in Central Florida! So pack short sleeves, long sleeves, sweaters and jackets.

We went last February and I can attest to the fact that the weather does change! We actually wore gloves several times and many people with freezing hands looked at us with envy! The days were always pleasant it was just the early morning and evenings that sometimes got chilly. We did swim, they kept the pool at Pop very warm which was great. One thing I did that was so great was I bought my kids several pairs of those lightweight pants that have zip off bottoms. They could wear them in the morning and then as it warmed up zip off the bottoms and they were now wearing shorts. Then zip them back on again later. It was a great time to go and EMH nights in February were so much less crowded than the ones in May especially in the MK. Maybe because it was chilly in the evenings.

It'll be pretty crowded, which is a shame since if you went before or after that weekend, it'll be pretty empty.
