I'm trying to plan a no-kids anniversary trip for dh and I for next year. We are from michigan and looking to come mid winter for a reprieve from the cold.

We are looking at coming jan 31-feb. 7th. How are crowds usually that first week of feb? How is the weather that time of year??

That's a great time to go. The crowd levels are pretty low and you can usually get some pretty good weather. The only negative would be shorter park hours, but that's kind of offset by fewer people.

Last year was there jan 28-31. It was 45-55 and raining continuously. We are from Northeast Ohio- so yes, it was warmer than the 25 and blizzard conditions at home, but honestly it was miserable. Kids wore winter coats, hats, gloves; had to buy blankets in epcot (which I love, big Mexican ones). We didn't see the sun until we landed in Pittsburgh.

Went in early feb twice and it was nice. Capris and hoodies or light jackets. Could wear sandals and I think we swam one time.

The plus of the Jan trip is we walked on everything. But it gets dark early and parks close early.

How early do they close??

The MK will typically close at 6 during the week, 9 on weekends. Epcot will maintain its normal hours (9-7 for FW and 11-9 for WS). Studios will typically close at 6. AK is probably unaffected since it closes early anyway.

We go every year around this time, and it's great. The weather can be hit and miss, but according to my unscientific calculations - we get hit with bad weather once every 10 years. 2014 happened to be that year - and we just went with the flow.

I must respectfully disagree about the park hours. Although they do close earlier, I have never seen MK close as early 6. Typically during this time it's either 8 or 9 pm, with the odd 10 pm, and even midnight with EMH. Park hours are posted for 2015 so you can take a look and see if it works for you (February 7th shows MK open until 2:00 am :-).

We've been there a handful of times in February. Early in the month will be great as far as crowds go. Around President's Week the crowds do pick up. But the first half of the month tends to always be great for crowds.

The weather can be highly unpredictable. My advice would be to bring all seasons of clothing and dress in layers that you can easily remove. Seriously, it can be a high of 40s and 50s one day and then in the 70s another day. More often than not, we have had NICE weather in February, mostly sunny, mostly 70s-ish.

As for hours, they'll still offer EMH and you should definitely take advantage of those (especially MK at night, there's nothing like it!!!). But MK will stay open til 8 or 9. AK will close early, around 5-6. Epcot tends to have its normal hours all the time.

I am going the same week as the poster of this thread--Jan 31, but staying to Feb 8. I've already checked all of the hours through the WDW site and MK definitely does not close at 6 on any of the nights. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday open until at least 10--and as this poster says 2AM on 2/7! Other days its open until 8. I've been almost every month of the year to WDW and I don't remember MK ever closing that early, but I could be wrong. Definitely not the week I'm going though.:cool1:
