We just made reservations yesterday for a 1 BR Std. View at the Boardwalk (I still can't believe we got it:yay: ). Since we have never been to Disney World in February, could someone give me some idea of the crowds and "usual" weather for the second week in February? We will be there Feb 8 thru 13. Is there any big event going on at that time? Thanks.

Presidents week is extremely crowded almost like Christmas. Many school districts in the N.E. have a break during that week. The weather can be very nice.

That is a great time to go! We did several years either the first two weeks in Feb. before Pres. day and the crowds were low. :) Weatherwise it was hit or miss. Some years it was gorgeous for the whole week and in the high 70's and other times it was up and down with days in the 70's to dipping into 50's other days. However it was ALWAYS warmer than where we were from so we never minded!!!!! I loved going for our mid-winter thaw break!!

Have fun!

DH teaches HS and that means I am a veteran of many Christmas trips and also President weeks trips. Presidents Week is no where near as crowded as Christmas. The MK may be crazy busy on Sunday and Monday of that week, but you have other choices. Choose wisely.

Feb 8-13th should not be Presidents week as it generally keys off Washingtons' birthday and not Lincolns'. If you are going the 8th, you should not have problems with the crowds, but the weather...well...it is what it is...roll the dice and hope for the best....

Sorry, but i am glad to hear presidents day and daytona 500 are the week before our trip! we are going the week of Mardi Gras here in Louisiana, which is Feb 24, 2009... i have been during Mardi Gras before when presidents day and daytona 500 all fell in the same week, it was crowded...glad to hear it may be better next year at that time.
thanks

This is our favorite week due to lack of crowds! We routinely go the week prior to President's week purely for this reason. If you love to swim, however, you will be disappointed as most of the time the weather is high 60's, sometimes 70's, occasional 80's, and varies toward the cold side from day to day. Rain is typically 20-35% of the time (no data here, just our own experience). Considering that the lines are so low that for many of the major rides and attractions, especially early in the morning and late at night, you can turn right back around and get on it immediately again -- who wants to swim? When we use fast passes during these days, we can usually make use of about 4-7 per day. If you are a park commando, this is the week to go. If lines give you hives, this is the week to go. We have always had an excellent experience at this time, and chose our DVC month based on vacationing in February.

We have also gone home during President's week, and while the crowds are definitely greater, it tends to be the worst between 12 noon and 4:30 pm, when we are back at the hotel napping and swimming anyway (because it is usually warm enough this week to do that -- usually 70's, sometimes 80's, and rain is usually only 10-20% of time -- again, just by our own observation; seems strange there would be such a difference in the weather between the two weeks, but there definitely is and we have been doing this for years).

Have to say, this is why I love DVC; so much flexibility to have an awesome time no matter what the crowds look like!

Does anyone have a feeling for Mardi Gras week, 2009 since it is back to back with President's day week?

i do not think it will be a bad time since Presidents day and Daytona 500 are the week before. We have been for Mardi Gras week when it fell like this one year, it was great...we were also there at this time when it was all the same week, it was really crowded.... i guess we will see, we are going that week...hope it will not be crowded

We did pres week last year and just booked again for 09! We had a great time no where near as bad as spring break (that was a mistake).

Thanks. We caught the beginning of Mardi Gras this year at the end of our trip. It really caught us by surprise. So many LSU and Saints jerseys... ;) I didn't even think about it when planning. Espcially since Easter was so early this year.

Just a FYI the Varsity Cheerleading Competition is Feb. 7-8, this brings in 8,000 high school cheerleaders for this competition, with 25,000 spectators. You probable won't see an impact at your DVC hotel, because the they mostly stay at the values and moderates. You will see an impact at the parks. One park closed early for a special event for the cheerleaders and HS hosts the competition in the Indy Jones theater. It was packed the day we visited.
