Crowds in Early June

I'm thinking about going again June 5 - 10.

Any comments on crowds (and weather) would be appreciated! :earsgirl:

Thanks

Hello! :flower:

Just wanted to let y'all know that we have been several times in early June and it has never been that bad. Our trip for this year is actually June 2-11.

Usually we leave around May 25-28 and return home around June 5-6. But, thanks to hurricane days, school won't be out until May 31 here, so that set us back a few days. I'm hoping the crowds are no worse than they've ever been

We have been in some pretty large crowds at the MK during that time period :crowded: but the crowds there are always larger than anywhere else. Overall, we have always had a really great time. We're used to the heat and humidity so that doesn't bother us. I think the important thing is to pace yourself. If we find it too crowded, hot, or crazy - we just go back to the room or for a swim until we feel ready to cope with it again. ;)

Do you have any idea what the park hours will be for the first part of June? I was hoping that maybe MK (any the other parks too) would stay open late (like 10 or 11 pm) so that we would have plenty of time to go back to our resort for a swim/rest each afternoon.

I am going from June 3 - 11. How are the crowds?

We went from 3-8 June last year, and from 13-16 June in 2003. The crowds weren't horrible either time, but the weather, especially last year, was pretty bad. It's already really, really hot at that time of year, but what made it really miserable were the rains... and I don't mean the typical afternoon thundershower, I'm talking torrential downpours that lasted for hours, canceling fireworks, the Color Guard Retreat, closing down rides, etc.

Also keep in mind that Gay Days are 31 May - 5 June this year. Last year, it didn't affect the crowds too much, except for the Magic Kingdom, which you'll want to avoid on 4 June due to the crowd. Last year, we really were a bit more uncomfortable crowd-wise at MGM, because of the Star Wars weekend which just happened to coincide with our weekend.

I think if you tried to schedule both MK and MGM on weekdays during that time period, you'd be okay crowd-wise. Weather-wise, we're not taking our chances again - we're going in May instead. HTH!

I think you are wrong about Gay Days - they are the first weekend of June. We checked before we booked on their website and we will leave on the 2nd so we will miss the crowds.

According to their website - http://www.gaydays.com/ - this year's Gay Days are 31 May to 5 June. Like I mentioned before, though, the main day to avoid is Saturday (4 June) at the MK - we didn't see a noticeable difference last year otherwise.

HTH!

:flower: Last time we were there during this time period, the parks were open late but MK hours weren't as consistent as the other parks. AK, MGM, and Epcot all operated on the same hours every day, but MK had to be checked daily to see what was going on. :bounce:

hey we are going june 3-10. This is pretty much our normal time to go the crowds are not bad till 12ish but it gets real hot real fast.

We always visit in early June and have not found the crowds to be too terrible. When we visited last year (June 6-13), MK was open until 10:00 pm on Sunday, Thursday and Friday and until 11:00 pm on Monday, Tuesday and Saturday with a second Spectromagic on those nights. It was definitely more crowded last year than we were used to but it was still very manageable. Just plan on staking out seats for the MK parades and fireworks 1.5 - 2 hours in advance.

Hay KY! Thats exactly when WE are going! The 5th-12th of June... first trip!
My packing list includes "nice bright sunny weather and a cool breeze from the west" but if I forget to bring them... :)

We went from the 6th-14th last year and I'd say the crowds were moderate. I highly recommend the cold neck wraps and/or misty fans (I preferred the neck wraps-kept me cool for a longer period of time and I didn't have to carry anything). It rained horribly every afternoon, but I was told that it was an unusual season and that it normally just rains every afternoon for a short period of time (can someone confirm?). The good thing was that I could practically set my watch by the rain. We just left the park for our midday break just before the rain was due and came back later in the evening.

These were the hours for the parks last year....

Isn't it funny how they say the rain isn't the norm? They tell me that everytime I go, LOL

We went the week of the 4th of July last year.. the rain really wasn't that bad. Just a few showers. The 3rd week of August in 2003? the rain was HORRIBLE. We basically spent the whole trip in our hotel. It was sunny from morning until about 11am and then rained until 4 and then stopped until 8 LOL

I'm hoping this year it's not that way.
We are going from the 5th-11th. (Of June)

yeah, gay days are first of june according the the website, also we have been for the past 5 years over memorial day weekend through first weekend in june. The weather has always been perfect, and only rains occassionally and its not but an hour or so.

We're going June 7th - 13th. That makes it a Tues - Mon vacation which wreaks havoc on how my DH is going to take off work, but we got the cheapest airline tickets with that combination! Can't wait!!
