Actually I won't be going to until August of 2004. No vacation this year due to separation/possible divorce. I definitely plan on bringing my two kids next year for 3 days at WDW and 3 day cruise. Either the 3rd or 4th week. What are the crowds like then? Or has the majority of the summer crowd left by then since alot of areas go back to school? The end of August is perfect for us since the kids don't start school til after Labor Day.
I know it'll be pretty hot there since it is still hot up here at the time. But are there alot of rain showers during that time?

I think you'll find pretty heavy crowds until the week after Labor Day. Other than the holidays, some special events, and convention times, the week after Labor Day through to the end of the year is the lightest attendance, and some of the nicest weather. January is also slow.

Last year we went the last week in August and the crowds were wonderful. So good in fact, we are returning this year. ;)
Between arriving at the parks for opening, and using FP when necessary, the longest waits we had were about 15 minutes for Space Mt and The Great Movie Ride.

KathyT- We have been coming down to Disney during the last week of August for the past few years. The crowds are not bad at all. Rides have 10 - 15 minute waits but with FP it's not bad at all. Two bits of advice-- go early and be out of the parks by noon. The heat is pretty intense if your not use to is. Also plan to end your trip before Labor day.
:D :D :D

We've gone the 2nd & 3rd weeks of Aug & it's not bad at all. Alot of schools are back in session by then. Lines were noticably shorter the 3rd week.....

We are going August 22-27 this year. I too was worried about the crowds, but it sounds like it shouldn't be any worse than when we went over Labor Day a few years back. I found the heat then to be oppressive, so we plan to spend afternoons back at OKW, and hit the parks again in the evening. Are parks open later during August?
