Hi Everyone,

We are planning a trip April 29-May3. This will be Mon-Thur to avoid weekends. Does anyone know what crowd levels may be like for this week? We will be staying off-site and wont have fotl access. Thanks for your help. :)

We will be there some of those days too! The UG crowd calandar has 5-6's. Hopefully this will translate to US/IOA crowds as well.

i have gone twice for the week before mothers day in may and found the crowds not to be there. think i hit the parks around may 5th.

GMTA! :cool1:

I'm thinking that this will be a fairly easy week. We are also planning a beach trip just not sure if we will do it on the front end or the back end of our trip. We are thinking Destin or Pensacola. This will be our first trip to US/IOA. We have been to Disney every year since 2001 and have never ventured offsite. My Kids are 11 & 9 so we think they will be fine now for alot of the bigger rides.:woohoo:

We always go at off times to Disney and we figured this would be an off time for US/IOA. Right before schools let out for summer break.

macraven,

I'm thinking this will be an o.k. week. Thanks for your help. I will prob have more questions as the weeks come lol. So far this site has given some great info. Do you think that we need to purchase the EP?

if you go that first week of may and stay off site, do not buy the ep until you are in the park and see if you need it or not.

if you start at 8:15ish at the ticket turnstyle, you will not see any crowds/or more people until about 11ish.

if you find before noon that the park is having long lines for rides, then make your decision for the ep.
you can buy them inside the park or at gs.

why waste the money if you don't need to.

if you have covered over half the park by noon and run into crowds, you can either buy the ep or stand in the ride lines. if the ride lines are not more than 15 minutes, i would forego the ep for that day.

you only get to use the ep one time only on each ride/attraction.

i can't imagine you having long lines first week of may.

My husband and I went the 1st week in May, 2005 (It was our first Universal trip!), and there were little to no crowds. We stayed onsight and so had FOTL, but honestly we really didn't need it. I agree you should not buy the express passes until you are there and see how the crowds go. Unless there are some big groups there that week for some reason, I think you'll be fine!

On the Universal website, there are not EPs available for our dates in May. Do they offer them everyday at the parks or are they only available on the busier days?

You need to scroll down the page to see the other dates. All dates are available.

I was there the same time (May 2-13, 2005), not staying on site, so we didn't have FOTL. Had no problems at all with crowds, the only attraction that I remember queueing for any length at was JAWS. We could probably have avoided that too with a bit of planning. It was still only about 20 mins or so though.

i see that KK Cat lives in ireland.

wondering if they celebrate st pat's day also like we do today.
in chicago, they dye the chgo river green.......:rotfl:

high school field trips usually start happening the second week of May. the first week of May, especially on weekdays are a perfect time to go.

We went the first week last year and the guys were minimal .. rather than make a new thread, does anyone know about next week (Wed,Thurs in particular) crowd wise?

Folodar, I don't anticipate it to be too busy those days. I'm gauging this by looking at the price of express and the 7:00 PM closing.

Thanks as usual! Staying onsite anyway so it isnt much of an issue .. however, is there any places to rent a wheelchair outside of the parking garage? Somewhere possibly such as the front of the parks, or even the hotel area?

The wheelchair rentals are on the left (in both parks) after you go through the turnstiles.

You could also rent a wheelchair from one of the local Orlando companies. They deliver and pick up to resorts in the Orlando area.

These are some of the companies that DIS posters have had good experiences with in the past:
Care Medical:

Phone (407) 856-2273 • Toll Free U.S and Canada (800) 741-2282

Walker Mobility:

RANDY'S Mobility is in Kissimmee 407-892-4777

http://www.scootaround.com/ Not much feedback. Several people who reported they had no problems.

Just want to say my birthday present for the past several years has been a Universal trip, and early May is the perfect time to go! Crowds aren't big and the weather has been great. As others have said, wait until you're inside the park to buy Express passes since you probably won't need them. Enjoy!

Wow Sue, thanks alot for those companies .. I'm going to look over them, but how do they compare costwise to Universal? We'll only be there two days, and it seems they charge less over time but more for lesser stays .. thanks again!

I'm wondering this as well, we are going from May 4-8 and staying at Royal Pacific, so we'll have FOTL access.. I hope the crowds aren't too bad!
