DH and I are doing no-kid trip. We leave Aug. 25 and head back Sept. 4. I wanted to do the last two days at Universal.
Do we need to do super trip planning or will the parks be pretty empty at this time. The last weekend is Labor Day. Has anybody been to Universal over this weekend? We will be staying on property so we can have front of the line access. Will the crowds be very bad? Would I be better off doing Universal first and being in the Disney parks for the holiday weekend?

I've been the week before that. It was still crowded--not as bad as the first half as August, but more crowded than after Labor Day. I'm assuming that it will be a little less crowded when you'll be there, though, since some schools (like ours) start the week before Labor Day.

You'll be fine at Universal, though, with the FOTL access! That's awesome, even during a peak time, and you're smart doing that during Labor Day weekend since WDW will likely be more crowded that weekend (at least that's my assumption).

oh ~ good questions! DH and I have a 3 night cruise booked for 8/30 - 9/3 and were considering switching to WDW and the free dining instead. I haven't changed plans yet because I was concerned with the crowds at WDW during Labor Day weekend....my thought is that it would be very crowded.

We went last August to WDW(free dining again) from 8/24 - 8/28 and the crowds weren't too bad. We went to Universal on Thursday and Friday before Labor Day also and had hardly any waits for rides ~ crowds weren't bad (we stayed onsite with FOTL...love that perk!!)

Hey - we'll be there then, too ! Aug 25 - Sept 6 ... the last hurrah before school starts for us on the 7th !

Based on what I've read posted from those that have gone the very last week of August, I'm expecting pretty light crowds (or at least hoping !).
Labor Day weekend gets mixed reviews ... some say crowded, others empty. I think you'll do well at Universal with FOTL .

One thing I think you should do in terms of planning is make ADR's . Free dining is going on then (as I'm sure you are aware) and I think it is worthwhile to plan ahead for that.

See you there ;)

mousesavers lists this week including labor day as lightest crowds but hot

We've gone twice now around Labor Day and the week after. Best time to go, imho. Less crowds but most rides not shut down for refurb and parks still open fairly late. It's hot and humid, but not too terrible. I would assume Universal will be the same. Enjoy your trip! :)
