Has anybody been to WDW the week of a Presidental election? From the crowd calendar I saw, doesn't seem to be that crowded, but find that hard to believe with schools being off at least on Tuesday.

I do realize that the end of the week is Jersey Week, but again, the crowd calender doesn't really seem to be busy the whole week.

(And yes, we will be doing absentee voting before we go) :)

Our school does not take off for election day (we're off for veteran's day though).
I'd love to be able to fly down for a last minute celebration if my guy wins (not saying which... No politics)

I haven't been yet but the crowd calendars have the end of the week extremely crowded. There's a marathon plus that's the last weekend of Food and Wine Festival.

I had to change the dates for my trip and it ended up being the only time I could go this fall otherwise I'd have chosen another week.

We were at WDW on Election Day week in 2004. It was not busy until Thursday (Jersey Week start).

We will be at WDW this year from 11/1- 11/6. We don't expect it to be busy.

We don't have off that day either. I don't know of any school districts in my area that do...

Growing up in PA I heard the reason why we got election day off was that schools were used as polling places.

In my ward (?) its the borough building but on the other side of the main street its the elementary school (kind of the same one I went to).

None of the public schools in our area (DFW) have off for election day either. :confused3 The only holiday we have in November is Thanksgiving.

Only public schools here that have off are the ones used as polling places, which are few and far between. I would expect more of a crowd for Jersey Week.

Thanks guys!!! :) Yes our schools in our small town are where the polling takes place, so they have to shut the schools down. I'm hoping that is only the case here. I will certainly take advantage of less days of school missed as well as lower crowds. :)

Our schools are used as polling places too yet we have never had election day off.

Yes, schools may be out but the parents still need to go to work. This isn't a three day weekend since a national election day will always be on a Tuesday unless it's changed by law.

I know our town's schools are closed Election Day (Tues) as well as Thurs and Fri, so that would be a great week to go as the kids would only miss 2 days of sdhool. I think Jersey Week could be a bit more crowded in the beginning of the week if more NJ schools are closed for Election Day and people chose to let their kids miss Monday and Wednesday. I know I would! :thumbsup2

We were there a few years ago during "Jersey week" and it was fabulous. The weather was great and the crowds were less.

Have a great time!

My point was that the schools remain open despite being used as polling locations and it has never been a problem.

When I was a kid, I remember that our school was a polling location, but we still had school. I remember wondering what all those adults were doing at school waiting in line.

Yeah, schools don't close in Ohio, but are used for polling places quite frequently. I don't think the elections have any impact on crowds, high or low. November 6 this year will be the same as the corresponding day of the week last year.

I will actually be there during this time period. We have early voting in Ohio (as do many other states), so the date of the election wouldn't keep a lot of people from vacationing during that week since it is not hard to get your vote in prior to election day.

Isn't the early voting in Ohio still being litigated?
You might want to get yourself an absentee ballot just in case!
