Are the crowds lighter in the summer (late June , first two weeks in July), or are they equal to spring break in April?

This depends on weeks. First part of July has July 4 crowds. Two weeks around Easter have the Easter crowds. Most crowded weeks of the year are in order, Christmas week, the two Easter weeks, and July 4 time (from few days before to few days after). For those times, if you have never been, just imagine that the crowd is larger by likely double or more than anything you have ever seen at WDW.

Outside of that the other summer weeks from mid-June to mid-August are somewhat more crowded than the other spring break weeks, although those also have large corwds, and all the other spring break and summer weeks are noticeably less crowded than the big four mentioned above.

Looking to go either the second or third week in July or possible August this year. I know...hot and humid, but we survived last August :)

We have gone in July & August on most of our trips and while the parks are crowded they were NOTHING like what they were last March over our spring break trip. It was our first time going for Spring Break and we knew it would be crowded but to SEE it was something else. We went the week preceeding Easter and were actually DONE and GONE by Thurs. before Easter. Each day that week the crowds got worse & worse...by about Tues. before Easter MK was AT CAPACITY by 10:30-11:00 am. WE were there EARLY and were done with the park by around 11:00-12:00 but witnessed these poor people (many on their first trip EVER) who couldn't even get IN. And FORGET trying to use the monorail...OMG!! The LINES were insane. Most rides had 2-3 hour long waits. We felt very lucky that we knew our way around & knew what we wanted to do & what we could skip. We had also done the Disney Give-a-Day / Get-a-Day thing and were able to redeem our certificates for special Fast Passes on 3 of our days. If we didn't have those & if it had been our first trip I'd have been in tears!!! We're glad we went but I think it would be more stressful than summer.
