Crowds Dec 16-21

We have planned a Christmas trip this year and will be staying Dec 16-21. I booked HRH because I initially thought crowds would be big but now I'm not sure. I know hotel rates generally reflect busy seasons and rates for these dates are lower then any other time we have looked at this year. While I like having express passes, I would rather save money if they are not really needed. Has anyone been during this time that can tell me how crowds have been? I have looked at several different crowd calendars and they vary significantly.

I was just there those same dates in 2017. I really appreciated having the express passes. I honestly didn’t pay much attention to the regular wait times since we had express, but I do remember Kong having a wait of 130 minutes when we got on it, and the HP rides were 90 minutes or more.

Express passes won't be absolutely essential but you'd still rather have them. The parks don't get insane until the day after Christmas, but it's still somewhat crowded.

I went the same week in 2017 and also book the same week this year. To be honest, since I had EP, I didn't really pay much attention to the regular line. But the park felt quite busy. I saw Forbidden Journey at 60 minutes at one point.

We were also glad to have them during that week this year.
