Hello All.

My Husband, our two young sons and I are travelling to WDW this coming December 30th and are wondering just how busy the parks are the days following New Years Eve, ie 1st/2nd January onwards.

Anyone have any experiences to share, my thoughts are that it may well quieten down as soon as New Years Eve has been and gone. We are on vacation for 3 weeks so may well start our holidays once the crowds disappear.

Please send me any tips you have, its our first WDW trip.

Special thanks from the UK.:sunny:

We were there over New Years this year and were amazed at how fast the crowds died down after the 1st. By the 2nd the crowds were moderate, as opposed to the huge ones during the holiday week. It was a welcome change.

Even the worst of the crowds weren't too bad, though. You just have to follow the rules--pick the right park for the day and get there early!

Hope you have a great time!

From what I've read, there are big crowds from Thanksgiving until Jan1. After the 1st, crowds thin out.

How long are you staying? We went one year around January 3rd I think it was, and crowds were non-existent.:D

Sorry, just reread your post and saw you'll be there 3 weeks. You'll hit crowds the first couple of days, so maybe avoid the parks those days. But after that you will have no problem.

January weather can be tricky, bring clothes for any type of weather. The January we were there was quite cold. It was in the 40's in the morning so we would dress in layers and peel them off as the day got warmer. It would get to about 70, very nice. Then as evening came, pile the layers back on!

You'll get a lot of great tips from these boards...have fun planning!

I had to add my two cents to this one:

Even though you asked about crowds, I wanted to tell you how much fun New Year's Eve at Magic Kingdom was! A few years back I went with my parents, sis, and grandparents. We had stayed from Christmas through the 2nd. It was a blast! Disney gave us confetti and hats and noise makers. The crowds were huge, but we had gone for the celebration, not the rides that night. After the fireworks display, everyone left, but the park was still open. We were able to ride several rides with no wait at all.

Have fun on your trip!!:hyper:
