We're checking into BLT tomorrow for the Halloween Party and a long weekend. I'm planning to watch the fireworks from Top of the World tomorrow (Wednesday) night. Wishes goes off at 9:00 p.m., so I'm wondering what the crowds are like. I'd really like to be able to put a camera on a tripod for the fireworks, so do I need to get there really early to get a good viewing spot? Or are most people there relaxing and watching from the chairs inside or just milling about? Thanks for any insight!

I've been up there several times, including during the Halloween and Christmas parties. It's never been crowded. I've had no problem setting up a tripod to video the fireworks.

We were there Sept 29th and here's what we found.

We showed up 30-60 minutes early. We were shocked by the crowds in the lounge area. All tables were busy and there was a line (about 10) for beverages. Outside the deck was pretty empty. (It's the happiest we have seen the staff both escorting people to the elevator and the TOTWL).

About the time we received our drinks it was time for fireworks. We went outside and it was pretty crowded at the wall. We were able to find a spot, but it was near a light and lots of bugs. After the fireworks, we went inside to finish our drinks. Again the tables were full.

This was our third stay at BLT and we have never seen the area terribly busy until this trip. It may have been because it was also the F&W marathon weekend, F&W, MNSSHP, and MK was celebrating it's 40th anniversary.

If you're only looking to see the fireworks, you should be fine showing up 15-30 minutes early.

I've had three stays at BLT and I haven't really seen crowds in Top of the World. Plenty of good viewing spots if you go outside 10 to 15 minutes before the fireworks. They do get a little busy around fireworks time but typically it isn't people ordering drinks. They are just there for the fireworks but they take up tables in the bar area without ordering.

I completely agree with this statement. I've been there numerous times during 3 different stays (all during october), and I've seen very similar crouds.

Just an FYI, if you plan on getting something to drink plan on getting there 30minutes before the show. Last time I was up there about 75 people all came in about 5 minutes before the fireworks all wanting a drink! They overloaded the staff! They are a great staff, but they are human also....

The times I've been there have never been what I consider crowded... We've always been able to find a place to sit and relax with a drink before the fireworks... The terrace is plenty big enough for you to set up a tripod to record the fireworks without being in anyone's way or getting your equipment jostled around... There usually is a rush coming in during the 5 minutes prior to the fireworks, but most of those people go straight to the terrace and leave as soon as the fireworks end... Some will stay for a drink, but most people, even those in the lounge, head for the elevators after the show... We've always enjoyed the lounge when we've gone...

I think I read that the hours are 5pm to midnight, but not 100% on that. I could swear we were there til 1am once (at least past midnight?), but either my memory is foggy, or it's depending on how busy it is.

We've been up there twice, and also have never found it crowded or no tables to be found. However, we've never been there on a saturday night either.

Yes. Most don't stay long, as there's nothing there for kids and it's understandable them being bored in a bar. Most kids come up for the fireworks, and never even come into the lounge. There is a round seat inside the lounge - it's always obnoxious when kids see that as a playground (it's really just seating) & their parents don't bother to parent. Other than that, it's a nice quiet place for a drink.
