This is my first posting. I was just wondering if anyone had a good guess to how busy it is at the parks at the end of August. I am thinking about the week of 8/28-9/4. I know it is Labor day but I was hoping that a lot of schools are back in by then.

 Welcome, Michelle. I was in WDW the last week of August in 2002 and the crowds were significantly down. However, Labor Day weekend, the crowds can pick up. It's a great time to go.

Mouseteacher,
Thanks for the reply. Now I just need to convince DH to go then. He is afraid of the crowds.

Welcome to the DIS, MichelleGT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mouseteacher is right, it's significantly slower, but watch out Labor Day Weekend! Our favorite time to go is the week after Labor Day. Shorter hours, but no crowds!

My husband and I went to WDW Labor Day Weekend 2003....Saturday through Tuesday. It was HOT still, so be prepared for that. But the crowds were not bad until after lunch. If you go early, you can get a LOT done! It was not bad in the mornings at all, we thought (of course, MK will always be busy). We did notice the crowds dropping off by Monday. I hear the rest of the week after is very low crowds. :)

Michelle.......I agree w/KSGirl. I went w/6 other ladies (just us girls.......no husbands, no kids......loved it!) the Friday, Sat, Sunday before Labor Day on Monday in 2001. We did 4 parks in 3 days. I thought MK was pretty crowded but the other parks weren't bad at all. 3 of us had to fly home on Monday but the other 4 stayed until Friday and said the parks were practically empty! Amazing difference. If I didn't have 3 kids in school, I'd got the week after LD if I could. We went Memorial Day wknd and week after this year and I was shocked as to the size of the crowds. I'm a travel agent and alot of my clients wait until October to go since we have year round school here. They say the crowds are practically nothing then. Good luck on your trip!!
