So let me preface this by saying that our family once went to a MNNSHP on October 30 in 2009. We were looking forward to it but the crowds were insane.. we had anticipated much lower crowds and being able to go on the rides at will. So we were clearly wrong with our expectations.

That being said, I'm considering going to a MVMCP since we'll be there the week before Thanksgiving this year. I'm wondering what I should expect for crowds and if there is a day that is better than others to go for low crowds? (Perhaps a weekday as opposed to a weekend).

You likely went to a sold-out party. Crowds, particularly around party events, will be heavy for sure. I don't understand why rides would've had much wait though--those are normally very light even on the busiest of party nights.

Do you think the fact that I will be there on a quiet week for crowds would mean the party itself would be fairly light? Or am I making a false assumption?

Not necessarily. For best results, my advice would be (as you guessed) choose a weekday night instead of a Friday. Also, do NOT choose the last party before it goes on the brief hiatus for Thanksgiving week. Other advice would be to avoid nights with CM or AP discounts, which obviously attract more crowds.

I would think that the day before Halloween would be a sold-out night any year....throw in that Oct 30 2009 was also a Friday and yeah.....busy!

For MVMCP you're going near the beginning of the parties....and in November not December....I'd stay away from Fri/Sat and the Veteran's Day weekend. Also, avoid the first night.
